Hello All-I saw the other thread about this book series and wanted to share this:

http://www.deadline.com/2012/03/universal-pictures-and-focus-features-win-50-shades-of-grey/

Looks like Universal Pictures bought it, so look out....'Fifty Shades of F-ed Up' is coming to a theater near you!

It nagged him, in particular, that none of the girls hed known so far had given him a sense of unalloyed triumph.

Christian Bale or GTFO.

THIS!! When I initially read the fan fic story I of course pictured Robert Pattinson but I don't think he could do it for me in this movie. Bale would be PERFECTION; I'd spontaneously combust!!

I have no idea who could play Anastasia though, I'll have to give that some thought.

I can't believe this is being made into a movie!! Gosh, I read the fan fic as it was being published online & never imagined it would get this big!

How about Viggo Mortensen?

Mortensen is way too old. The character is like 28, but I think he feels more like 35. The woman is supposed to be.a college student and a virgin. So they will need to drop the virgin thing if they make her older, which would be cool with me because I found that creepy, but if they keep her 22/23 so she can be logically virginal, even Bale is too old.

I really kept picturing Bale as Patick Bateman, what with the name, the suited perfection, the disciplined body, etc. The book gets kind of ridiculous at times but he could make it work.

I can't imagine Pattinson doing it but I only watched half of Twilight and none of the sequels so he's Cedric Diggory to me.

Michael Fassbender is a possibility since he is obviously willing to drop trou at a moment's notice but there's something a little too raw and not at all repressed about him.

Viggo still has a very toned body..."Eastern Promises" naked fight scene using NO stunt doubles.
He might be "old" chronologically, but he has retained a very youthful look & is adept playing a host of varied roles.
I vote for him, but then I'm obsessed, & therefore, biased.

Cillian Murphy!!!

At least, that's immediately who I pictured when I started reading it.... He's scary, in a hot kinda way.

That's pretty good, actually. Looks younger, eerie eyes. Plus he has to be believably umm...well, I guess that's a spoiler, so let's just say you have to believe he used to be a very different sort of person, and CM would be good at that part.

I think Jonathan Rhys Meyers from the Tudors would make an excellent Christian!

I think Kristen Stewart or Amanda Seyfried w/brown hair could be Ana.

Can't wait for the movie!

Who would have thought that Master of the Universe would BLOW UP like this!
I have to admit, I just don't know how they are going to make this work without it being NC-17 or something!!!

My wife is deep into these books, and I have read the first two. SHe has voiced that she would like to see William Levy as Christian. And I have to say that there is no way they are goingto be able to incorporate the book into an "R" rated movie.

THIS is exactly what I think every time I see 50 Shades mentioned on TV (like on Dr.Drew or the MANY other talk shows lately). Master of the Universe was the 1st Twilight fan fic I read, I remember reading it as she posted it! It certainly had it's own place in Twilight fan fic greatness but now? HOLY COW!!! 3 best selling books, a movie..how unreal!

You know, I would actually cast this British, because it felt more like London than Seattle to me anyway.

Matt Bomer. That is all I want to say about it.

OH, except for that I wish Hugh Jackman were young enough...

Michael Fassbender. If anyone has seen his work he is an unbelievably powerful actor. I can't imagine anyone else in the role.

My wife read all three a month ago. I was able to get through the first two before getting bored with the third. Not bad in terms of trashy fun but there are a lot of things lacking in terms of literary quality.

I was looking at pictures of actors in the running. I had never heard of him before but Henry Cavill (I think that is the name) just looks perfect for the part!

I don't know that I could survive Gosling or Fassy. This book is Not My Kink, but Gosling and Fassy are. Definitely couldn't survive Gos, or as I like to think of him, "Non-Porn James Deen."

Re: Bomer. You know, a gay actor is actually a good choice. The thing doesn't work if the hero isn't the object of desire. Straight guys labor against understanding themselves as objects of desire because they have tons of indoctrination telling them they're not supposed to recognize what's hot about guys, and the only qualities that they seem to feel comfortable recognizing are ones that inspire hetero male hero worship like athletic ability and money, or is something straight guys use to rank themselves against each other like height and dick size. But when it comes to getting away from that measurement scale, particularly when you're moving into the realm of the little things you cannot measure, they shut down.

But gay guys *do* know what's hot because they know what they like. Example: women, you know that guy way of taking off a t-shirt where he kind of bends just a touch forward, grabs the back hem and pulls it forward over his head, and how that is sofuckinghot when a hot guy does that, and it's the opposite the how way a girl takes off a t-shirt, which is of course crossing our arms, grabbing the hem at each side of our waist with the opposite hand, and then shimmying out of it?

Yeah, see, straight women and gay guys know all about both of those things, because we know what we like when we see guys do it their way, and we are inundated with media imagery showing us the girl way, so we understand that's sexy even though it doesn't cause sexual desire in us, and when we do it, we receive approval.

If they cast Matt Bomer as Christian Grey, I'm going to melt into a puddle of goo in my movie seat which could potentially be embarrassing

That man is SO HOT it's distracting!! Every time I watch "White Collar" (which I love), I usually have to watch it twice because I forget what the episode was about because I'm oogling the Bomer!! GAHHHHHH, *fan girl squeal*

Confession time. I can't read them. They are too cheesy for me.
I don't want to analyze it much.. I just find myself rolling my eyes half the time.
Just not doing it for me I'm afraid.

Which is odd, because I can read just about anything if I'm in the right mood. I guess I'm not in the right mood. I just keep skipping to the sex parts. Which are also disappointing because there was no build up.

Maybe I'll have better luck with the movie.

The woman is the problem. Ugh, her voice. Honestly, she's the second most annoying first person narrator in all of Romancelandia.

First is and shall always be Anita Blake.

James McAvoy and yes it feels british.

Can I just add that it this is just porn for women? I enjoyed eating chocolate in bed while going through the books and being ready for some HB after most chapters.
