User Topic: Prayers for my sweet doggie...

We had to put him down tonight. He would have been 14 on April 6. Vet suspects brain tumor. Sudden onset of severe seizures starting last night. He had multiple episodes over 18 hrs and at the end he couldn't see or hear but was pacing all over and running into the walls and stuff.

We all agreed it was for the best. He had a great life. The best dog ever. I'm going to post some pics of him later.

Oh no punky! I'm so sorry.

Your sweet guy had a lifetime of love and security - it doesn't get much better. Sending prayers up to doggie heaven where he's surely chasing a golden ball.

Oh Lordy, I'm sooo sorry! I lost my beloved furbaby on Valentine's Day, and I'm still grieving for her. I cried for two days, and it wasn't as traumatic as your experience.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

I hope this helps. A friend shared it with me, and it did give me some comfort.

Big Hugs to you!

God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to

That poem was beautiful. Thoughts and prayers for you.

Everyone loved this dog. All of my kids friends, neighbors. He was so sweet and gentle. I literally only heard him growl ONE TIME in his life. When he went to doggie day care, they put him with the puppies and little dogs. When my DD was younger, she would dress him up in tutus and once in a bride's costume. One of my favorite memories was looking out the window onto our patio and seeing my DD sitting on the patio with him just talking and using her hands to talk--obviously getting something off her little chest--and he just sat there with her and listened. But above all, I will never forget how he comforted me when I first came here. When I cried, he would put his head on my knees. Just so sweet and loving.

It is so hard when they go, at least you know he had a great life, and was happy being your pet.
I too have felt the loss of a pet too many times in the past year. Two of my dogs were just old, and my cat got sick suddenly. It hurts still some days I really miss having the herd.
I hope you can find peace in knowing he had a great life, and that he didn't suffer.

Thanks to all for the support. It's been such a tough day. My daughter couldn't even finish out the day at school. We are all puffy eyed and have sore noses from blowing them all day.

Love your fur babies while you can. I'd give anything to see his sweet face again.

Big hugs

You're a great doggy mommy. He led a happy, full life. He was loved. He was warm when it was cold out and cool when it was hot out (and that's many days in TX). He was petted, cuddled, played with, and hugged. He lived to a ripe old age. He died with the people he loved. It's better than most of us could ever hope for in our lives.

I love you punk. Hang in there.
