So, some of you will have read that and thought, "Yeah, so what???!!!"

But, I've been on this whole roller coaster since June 2008 so to me this is an big deal.

Pre FWH A I devoured books, I loved books, I bought a new book practically every week !

During and ever since I have struggled with concentrating and so have started books but never managed to read beyond the first page!

I have 2 books recommended by guys on here :
2 good to leave 2 bad to stay and Post Infidelity Stress Disorder and have had them for about 18 months to 2 years now and they are still unread.

Well, I decided I would try to read again so downloaded Frank Peretti's Piercing the Darkness as I read it many years ago and was reminded of it last week and thought that, at least if I download it I can keep dipping in and out as I choose and it won't matter much if I don't finish it as it was cheaper to download than to buy.

I finished that book in 4 days!!!

Granted I had a couple of false starts but I managed to get right into it and loved it!!

Progress! For MrsDoubtfire at least!

It may be a while before I read another, but it might not. I'm just pleased to say I managed to finish one after all these years

That's fabulous!
Books were a casualty of the A for me as well. Pre A, I devoured my books in a day. But post A, I couldn't trudge through a paragraph. I just couldn't invest in the characters or the story. So I completely get how this is a huge leap forward!

Totally get this! I used to eat books. I have since I was a child hiding under the bedcovers at night with a flashlight to read my Nancy Drews.

After DDay I couldn't keep my mind focused long enough to read a newspaper article. Took me about two years to recover my focus again and inch my way back into reading. Over the last year I've read at least 15 books and keep looking for more to read....sucking them down again the way I used to except now the books are on my Kindle. I love reading again and am enjoying every damn minute!

Congratulations! It's wonderful when we recover a part of us we thought we had lost!

I can relate.
It is amazing what stress and anxiety does to us.
It took about 2 yrs post d-day until I could stay focused on a book.

It was a milestone for me.

Yayy! Mrs. Doubtfire!

Wow! So concentration and focus are a normal casualty? I thought it was just me. Thanks everyone for chiming in, I''m glad to know its not just me.

I was the same way as you, MrsDoubtfire.

I am glad you were able to get back to reading, it is a milestone.

I could not read for quite some time. Now I can. It took me almost 3 years to be able to concentrate. Funny what these selfish nasty people can do to us. This last few weeks I have been able to read 4 books.
