Help!!!

I need go get away from Verizon... the cell service at work sucks, my last two phones practically fell apart before the year was out and they did NOTHING to help...

And now... they want me to pay a $30 upgrade fee for the privilege of remaining their customer. <I wanted to replace my phone with the exact same phone only new>

$30 to sign a two year contract and remain their customer seems flat butt ridiculous to me.

I have three lines on my plan... and I use their Family Locator service (which I love)

But this is getting to be too much... I need to move to a different carrier.

I have had no issues with Sprint, but I havea few friends who are with TMobile and they love it. They have some sexy phones with no contract. If I wasn't so settled in with Sprint I would be inclined to check out TMobile.

I know AT&T has decent coverage in the area of my school, where Verizon doesn't.

Not sure what T-Mobile's coverage is like.

I was with Sprint over 10 years ago... I left them for Verizon...

I'm happy with Sprint, just because they're so much cheaper than AT&T and Verizon, but their coverage leaves something to be desired at times. It seems to be much better if you live East of the Mississippi.

I'm on the East Coast and am very happy with Sprint. When we go visit family in the Midwest, we also have no issues with coverage. Mostly I just like that our plan includes all the texting, data, pictures that we want. Quite nice to never have to worry about going over our plan limits.

Sprint does also have the Family Locator service, which I believe is $5 per month.

I'm on year 18 with Sprint. I've always been treated really well and have a great rate with lots of free upgrade options on phones. I have two lines.

I have never had an issue with Sprint. But I feel like I have been fortunate in that most of the companies I have to do business with I have not had any issues to speak of. I left Verizon for Sprint, and honestly didn't have any issues with them either. They were just a casualty of my divorce. My fiance's brother use to work with cellphones, and I believe he said Sprint has the best plans for the price.

AT&T is looking like a very viable winner...

Sprint has terrible reception/service in our area. Dropped Calls, No signal strength...

Gonna check out Metro PCS before I decide.

I know I won't be going with T-Moblie, I don't like their phones.

and no Walmart plan... I won't even consider them.

I left Sprint years ago for bad customer service. I've always had AT&T since then and I've never had poor service. Their coverage has been great as well. I'm in the New England.

jrc, I'm with AT&T and I have zero issues or complaints with them (well, except for the cost). But I like their "rollover minutes" because I'm a sporadic telephone user. I talk all day on the phone at my job; the last thing I want to do is talk when I get home. I don't lose calls either.

I've been on the Straight Talk plan (Wal-Mart plan, I guess) for a year now with almost no problems. Coverage where I live is just as good as Verizon and better than AT & T. $45 a month is the best part. They don't have the sexiest phones, but I'm not into that anyway since I spend so damn much time on the computer for work.

I am leaning towards AT&T at the moment...

But new wrinkle is... that I call FWSO everyday and he's staying with Verizon... so we'd lose our free Mobile 2 Mobile minutes.

slight t/j

kernel, I think you're extremely lucky with your straight talk phone. I had one for 5 months. I signed up for "auto renewal" so I wouldn't have to keep up
with reloading minutes.

Every month, without fail, my phone would cut off saying "you don't have enough minutes too make a call". This was AFTER they had drafted the $$ from my account. It wouldn't cut off on the same date every month, either. I'd call customer NON service that barely spoke English and every month, they would manually reset my phone, saying it would never happen again.

Well, it happened every freakin' month I had that phone. 5 months of that hell was enough. After that experience, I was willing to pay AT&T anything they wanted.

Never, ever, ever again. I get just typing this again.

end t/j

jrc, back to topic. I think AT&T now allows free calls to other mobile carriers. I call my friend on Verizon and it isn't harged against my minutes. Check into the details of their plans. You might be able to get that too.

Too_Trusting... If what you say is true than I think I've made up my mind.

Now I just have to wait and see when the Blackberry Q10 comes out on AT&T... they guy said it would be coming... and I can switch.

Too_Trusting - sounds like I am lucky! We have so few choices where I live so I am thankful.

I've got sprint had it for 10 years + years.

Mobile to mobile is in my plan as well as family locator and everything else. I just keep renewing my contract that they do not offer anymore. I have 5 phones on my plan.

Good luck jrc.

Ditch the carrier and go with a prepaid plan. You can go to your local electronics store or target/walmart and they should have a wide selection of different prepaid phones/plans. I would recommend something like net10 or straighttalk (if you can find it). Prepaid plans are month to month and a whole lot cheaper than contracts. The main downside is that the phone selection is usually limited or basic. However, you can usually bring your own device or purchase a used on from ebay/craigslist/friend.

For example, i have a samsung galaxy s2 with AT&T. My plan costs over $60 a month for basic talk, unlimited text and unlimited data. I can get the same plan, with the same coverage through straighttalk for $45 and i can keep using my phone.

Not only are prepaid plans cheaper but if you are really uncertain about what carrier to go for you can try one for a month and then switch to something else if you don't like it. There are no ETFs or "renewal fees" or anything like that.

I've been with Verizon for 14 years and I won't change...partially b/c our only option is AT&T and they have horrible service here. I have a friend who recently left AT&T b/c they had two phones that died within a month, they sent the phones in for repair and they had them for a week before they died again, AT&T replaced the phone and that one died within two months. Soooo, they left them and went to Verizon. As much as Verizon sucks, sometimes, I (personally) wouldn't change to AT&T.
