I know this title sounds very weird , and yes, it is weird. but I have some weird pains in my right boob.

They have been examined by my female doctor. They have been mammogrammed, and that was negative. So what's up with this? No lumps, bumps or weird things in the pic.

Before you ask, no I am NOT pregnant. I'm 43, not yet menopausal, but my periods only last for 2 days tops, and my doctor thinks I might be approaching that fun middle age time. No hot flashes or anything like that.

Is this a new middle aged thing?

At my latest ob/gyn appointment, she told me that women's hormones become worse from 40-50. Menopause may not be imminent; it just might be symptomatic of your age.

*two days??? no breast pain at all??? *

I get that sometimes. As a matter of fact it was at its worst right after my SIL got diagnosed with breast cancer so of course I was paranoid.

Went for my yearly exam, had my mammo, everything looked good.

Now the discomfort isn't so pronounced on the one side like it was at that time, now at certain times of the month it is just consistent discomfort. Heaviness, itchiness (that's fun! ) and just an overall icky feeling in my boobs.

Love the 40s!

Also a problem for me right before my period. Pretty much every PMS symptom I used to have is magnified by 10 now that I am almost 40

I used to have it a little bit before, but it was a pregnancy thing. Now apparently it's just a regular cycle thing

Funnily enough, I was at the doctor discussing this exact thing this morning. I have always had this to some extent the week or so before my period, but it has gotten much worse in recent years.

His assessment was that as you get older, the first part of the cycle (the estrogen dominated part) is still functioning the way it always did, but the second part (the progesterone dominated part), which comes after ovulation but before your period, starts to be less efficient.

He's prescribing me a mild bio identical progesterone cream to use once a day for the first two weeks and twice a day for the second. We're going to re-assess in two months. I'll let you know if it helps.

My mother told me that cancer doesn't hurt. Hurting usually comes from hormone changes.

Also agree with Jessica.. pain from BC normally will not be a symptom. It's definitely hormonal for me. My moods during PMS Aare increasingly worse as well. OTOH my actual cycle is half the time it used to be which is odd given that it had been the same for 25 or so years.

This getting older stuff sucks.

Ah yes the Joys of perimenopause. The hormones get really confused before they taper off completely.

If you have sore boobies there are a few things that can help. Eliminate caffeine in your diet, and drink lots and lot of water to flush out toxins. Change from a regular bra to a sports bra this provides much tighter support, and can ease the pain, kinda like putting an ace wrap on sore spot.

Good Luck, and hopefully this will go away as quickly as it came.

I used to get shooting pains in my breasts. As tushnurse suggests, I found when I was drinking way too much caffeine this is what happened to me.

I didn't have to eliminate caffeine, but I cut way back. I just drink one or two cups of coffee or tea a day now and the pains went away.

you might also be surprised at the referred sharp breast pains that can come from tightened muscles...especially from sitting in "computer pose" too much. i find that when i have really sharp, one-sided breast pain that the trigger point in back just below my shoulderblade and almost in my armpit is on fire if someone rubs it. i won't even feel it until then.

do you ever have any neck pain or tingling/numbness in arms or hands?
