Monday was the anniversary of my brother's death. Its always a tough day, but as years go by I remember happy memories instead of the really sad missing him feeling.

So on Monday, I was driving on a major highway. Weather is bad and there was an accident, so everyone was stopped.

I was stopped, and in my rearview mirror, I see a tractor trailer barreling down on me, at least 70 mph. He starts to swerve, like he's trying to stop, but theres not enough time

at the last second he swerves into the right hand breakdown lane. His tractor trailer was so close to my car it looked like he was going to clip the side of me.

It took him about 7 car lengths to stop.

I would have been instantly killed had he hit me going that fast.

Right after that, I a double rainbow, which has a spevial meaning to me, and is a funny story between me & my brother when we were kids. So it was almost like he was there with me.

I told my H and a friend, but they don't really get what happened, and I left out the part about the double rainbow.. I don't know, it was just one of those times that you are grateful to be alive and think what's the universe trying to tell me...

I am glad you're ok! I was in the exact same scenario with a teenager who wasn't paying attention. She did hit me though, and totaled her car. If it had been a tractor trailer I would have been toast. Big hugs, that is a scary feeling watching them come at you.

So glad you are OK, and I believe your brother was watching out for you.

Like you and Jessica, I, too, have been in the same situation. A teen hit me from behind going close to 55 mph while I was at a dead stop... and behind her was a tractor trailor carrying three huge rolls of steel that thankfully was paying attention and stopped in time. The girl's truck and my van were totaled, but at least our lives were not.

((Gotta)) Peaceful thoughts as you process this experience.

Wow, I totally believe your brother was there looking out for you. Double rainbows is a powerful sign. The timing was just too incredible to be a coincidence.

OMG! I'm glad you're all right. That is scary. It's a good thing he didn't jack-knife his trailer. That would have been bad.

I love double rainbows! I've only seen them twice. I'm sure your brother was there watching over you.

Oh, honey! How terrifying. That kind of close call - the eternity that passes while you are watching him barreling down on you - it's life changing.

I am so very thankful that your brother was watching over you. ((((((gottagetthrough)))))

That double rainbow was a gift, I have no doubt about it. He was your guardian angel. I'm so glad that you were not hurt.

I had an elderly lady back up to me in the parking lot yesterday. I started backing out, then I saw her backing out (our rear ends were both pointing at each other, but she was a few spots down as well). So, I was going backwards, rear end to the right, but not going forward yet. I see her pulling out as well "stop lady stop please" (window up, she didn't hear). We touched. :( Poor lady said the sun was in her eyes. My car is a rust bucket, and it was surface only. No bother. Hers was a nicer newer car, but just surface as well. Our insurance is no fault, so going through insurance would be silly. So we'll both take care of our own cars (though I don't think I'll do much more than buff it, wax it, and try to avoid rust).

I can't imagine watching a huge truck coming at you and you can't do a thing about it. Very scary. If you were a cat you'd be "down one". I think the double rainbow is the bigger story though...I think like that.
