So my kids have been invited to a birthday party that they attend every year. xWS has often taken them because I had to work. The thing is, all of the patents there have been my friends since before my ex and I got together and I know they don't think much of him now. It's on a Sunday when he has the children anyway. I would have them back early to take them but I'm on a course that day. It would be a shame for them to miss out.
Any thoughts?

If you trust him and think he's responsible, then yes. Otherwise, no.

Just HOW stupid do you think I am, exactly?

It sounds like you're afraid the X might be humiliated; that might not be a bad thing Do you think he would behave badly and embarrass your kids? If not, I say he takes them and sucks it up.

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

Yes I was thinking he will just have to suck it up! :) I was thinking more about my friends feeling awkward. I've let him know now so he is taking them.

I also reckon that he will make some excuse not to take them as he is a massive, spineless coward. I'm sure his mummy would be happy to hold his hand though and tell him what a special boy he is!

Unless he is a danger to the kids, his relationship with them is his business.

He fired you from handling the fallout of his choices.
