Just feel the need to declare that I am happy to be alive.

On Saturday, NOguy and I spent the day out on his bike (a Harley).

We had a great day and were about two miles from my house when a young kid ran a stop sign and hit us.

Never. So. Scared. In. My. LIFE!

It's amazing. A series of events that happened within seconds, I remember as snapshots that seemed to take several minutes.

I watched the car come toward us and thought he was going to hit where my leg was. I didn't feel panic, I felt resigned to the fact that this was going to hurt so I turned my head, held my breath and just braced myself.

He hit us just behind my leg, mid saddlebag (hard saddle bags)

When he hit us, I felt the back of the bike jump over and could tell from the wobbling that NOguy did not have control of the bike.

Again, I was resigned to the fact that a whole lot of bad was about to happen, but by the grace of God, he gained control and we didn't fall over.

Just as the realization hit that we might actually be ok, I saw we were headed straight toward the back of a parked car.

NOguy hit the brake and we came to a tire-screeching halt.

I don't remember getting off the bike but I must have jumped off like it was on fire. He didn't even feel me get off. He looked back and I was standing on the sidewalk.

There was so much that could have gone horribly wrong. The car could have crushed my leg...the bike could have landed on top of us....we could have been thrown into the road....we could have hit the back of that car....and NONE of that happened.

The bike has some damage but, that's what insurance is for. We are alive and completely unharmed.

Thank you to God and the guardian angels he sent to keep that bike on two wheels.

NOguy has some *mad* bike-driving skills.

This could have been so tragic and I'm so glad to hear that there was a happy ending.

Wow - you actually got hit and didn't go down? THAT'S amazing and awesome! So glad it turned out that way.

My SO were driving through St. Louis during rush hour on 64W. An SUV cut us off and we were in the far left lane with nowhere to go. Thanks to SO's awareness and skills, we did not go down. But I cried until we got outside the city.

Riding a motorcycle involves risk - you are very vulnerable. It's good to be made aware of that without terrible consequences.

Sending strength and peace.

Do you wear helmets?

Yes, MA and RI have helmet laws although RI only requires the passenger wear a helmet.

I am so glad you wear helmets. We have lost many friends to motorcycle accidents. One friend is a quad due to an accident. Most were not wearing helmets when killed. Some, it wouldn't have made a difference, but for some it would have meant the difference between life and death. (((cryingdaily)))

I am so glad y'all are okay.

Slight T/J: I almost hit a couple on a motorcycle today and it makes me almost sick to think about it. I was on the interstate and a car started swerving into my lane. I looked in my mirror and to my side, didn't see anything and pulled left. The bike was in my blind spot but by the time I saw them the car was already in my lane. The guy driving pulled it over and as I made eye contact I mouthed "I'm so sorry." He smiled but the woman passenger flipped me off and called me a bitch. Neither if them had helmets. She was in shorts and a tank top made for a much smaller woman. I'm not sure what she thought I should have done. If I had let the other car hit me, things would have been a LOT worse.

T/J over., sorta. Motorcycles scare me. There is very little room for error and the potential for harm is high. I am so glad y'all were okay.
