So I took my dog to her vet appointment today and told them all my worries. They ran bloodwork and it came back that she is diabetic. She will be on insulin for the rest of her life. I'm so sad for her and worried.

My vet gave me a prescription for insulin because she didn't carry it. 1800petmeds doesn't have the brand she prescribed. Are there any other sites I can use or can I get her prescription filled elsewhere?

petvet.com or something like that...it's where my Dad gets all his vet meds.

I'm sorry your fur baby has diabetes, but with a fur parent like you I'm sure she'll be well taken care of!

Check Vet Depot. http://www.vetdepot.com/prescription.html

Sorry about your doggie, but diabetes is totally controllable with insulin.

Thanks guys. She is running around the house with a cone on, she had an eye infection too caused by her weakened immune system...sigh. But she is running eating and cuddling. I used vetrx.com and should have her meds tomorrow. The thought if injecting her makes my heart hurt but my furbaby needs me, and she will get everything she needs.

I have had a diabetic cat for probably 5-6 years now.

Can't help on where to buy the insulin as my vet stocks mine, but just wanted you to know that those daily injections mean your furbaby could be with you for a lot more happy years.

My guy hardly flinches when I inject him, so I don't think it hurts that much. They're only subcutaneous injections (you know to put it just under some pinched skin right? not into muscle?) which doesn't smart as much as getting a vaccination or something of that sort.

ETA just reread your recent post. Looks like they're usign human insulin. I belive you can get that at Walmart.

okay I got her insulin and gave her the first injection. She flinched a little event putting it in the loose skin and it made my heart hurt but it's necessary for my furbaby to be healthy. Thanks for all the help.

I'm sorry your puppy is sick :(

My fiance's dog has diabetes...it's been hard to control but she's a good girl and sits still for her injections. We think she knows the shots are to make her feel better, so she doesn't mind getting them.
