You know, the one you cant get out of?

2 weeks to go:
kid: Did you sign the driving form yet?
Mom: yes it's in your bag

1 week to go:
Kid don't forget you're driving us to the zoo
Mom: Yes I remember

4 days to go:
Kid: did you remember to send in the zoo pass
Mom: yes
Kid did you take the day off?
Mom: Yes

3 days to go:
Kid: did you remember we are going to the zoo??
Mom: Yessss.

2 days to go:
Kid: arent you excited that we're going to the zoo Mom?
Mom: (holding several forms, swearing on paper that she has a working car and it has seat belts)
Hmmm??
Kid: Excited, Mom. Arent you?
Mom: Yes (checks forecast - rain) Very. (contemplates buying a rain slicker and a hat and boots. or just buying the kid off with ice cream)

Day before:
Kid: Mom....
Mom: Yes. Zoo. Yes.
Kid: mom aren't you...
Mom: Excited. Yes. Very. (thinks about 2 kids under 7 in her car)Very.

Day of the trip:
Kid: Mom can I have this drink/toy/umbrella with frogs on it/stuffed giraffe/rock?
Mom: Sighhh

Day after the trip:
Mom: Wasnt that the best field trip? Did you see the Red Pandas?
Kid: Yes.

Red Pandas? They must have looked cool.

I've had the exact opposite situation where I had to drag the kid kicking and screaming to the field trip and then after he is all smiles just so glad that we FORCED her to go.

This is how it usually went at my house.

Day OF the Field Trip:

Son: Mom, I need a permission slip signed or I can't go on the field trip today.

Me: What field trip? Where is the permission slip? Did you need me to go along? I can't take off work today!

Son: NO! I don't want you to go. I can't find my permission slip. Can you just write one out?

Me: Ok, but I really need to get out the door to get to work (as I scribble out a permission slip). Hand him the slip and head out the door.

Son: Thanks. Oh, wait, I need $10 for lunch and stuff.

Me: OMG! I don't have any cash. Crap. Now I have to go to the ATM. I better call work to tell them I'll be late.
