So, my DD was sick yesterday, so i stayed home with her.

My mom asks me this morning how the baby is and I told her that all DD needed was some good sleep, lots of fluids and mommy

She texts back:

Yah....I wish I could have that too....it's hell being the oldest one in the line.....

Oh the feels...

My Grama passed away about 6 years ago and it still hurts. She was as close to her mom as I am to her, and I am pretty sure i will need to be hospitalized when she passes cause she means so much to me....so i can totally understand...

And then I realized that one day - that's going to be me....that one day I will be the oldest one line

I told mom that I would totally take care of her....

sorry for bringing down Thursday

Yep, the older we get, the scarier that thought becomes. To have no family or friend of your own generation left is pretty scary.

You sound like a wonderful daughter, and what you said to her was very reassuring. I said that to my parents all the time. And I did take care of them, both, in my home, until they died. (And my FIL also, but he was able to remain in his home most of the time).

I can only hope my kids will do the same for me.

We have that beginning now and for my mother has been going on for some time. She is fighting age with all her might, but it is coming and kind of like trying to hold back a tide, if you ask me.

Your response to your mom was very heart felt and showed empathy or sympathy. It sounds like a very nice reply and you were right there when she needed someone, even when you were also there for your DD.

You sound very strong.

This was my actually answer

awwwww....mommy! I would take care of you any day of the week....chicken noodle soup, honey lemon tea, all the tv you want....

Her reply was:

well thanks...but a good day of shopping with you with margerita's after might help......

but yes, my mom is my best friend and confidant. She knows me better then I know myself sometimes.

She's not old, just 61, so i pray that i have another 39 years with her. She's healthy and keeps active. She eats well and takes vitamins and stuff....but life is fleeting and no matter how you slice it she has lived more life then she gets to live in the future.
