So today I took my posse (2 adult kids, 1 adult son-in-law, 1 perfect grandbaby, 1 teenage son) to a restaurant to meet up with my sister and her husband that were in town. I chose the place, and it was one that has history for STBXH and me. Now it has different memories. Yeah, 1 more thing I took back.

I am in the process of doing that... Good for you. New memories and traditions fuel new beginnings.

I've been doing the exact same thing. I stayed away from places because I had memories with the POS/family being there. I decided to not let that shape my future thinking, so DD16 and I have been purposefully going to some of those same places together specifically to create new, happy memories.
I even bought a new garbage can at home because POS insisted on the previous one, and I wanted to get rid of that memory and create a new one...sad, but true...

Congratulations. Every once in a while I realize that something or somewhere that used to hurt no longer does. I celebrate those things.
