Well, my sister got her way. My mom bought an SUV today. She's only had 4 physical therapy appointments. I can't shake the feeling that it's too quick. She still has a hard time standing up, how can she drive?

My mom is happy to be able to drive again but I'm so worried for her. The plus side is that she didn't get the reverse mortgage.

What happens if she gets into an accident? I don't think my sister was thinking. She just didn't want to drive her around. I didn't have a problem but my mom couldn't get into my car because it's small. The height of the SUV works for her but I just think it's too soon.

I could cry.

Thank you, I hope so too. I just have this heavy, sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I hope everything works out. I don't know your moms story, but is she getting better after each of her appointments? I can relate. My dad has severe arthritis and can barley walk, yet he drives. Worry about accidents all the time.

Can you offer to drive her in the SUV? Comfortable for her, less worry for you?

letitout, my mom has knee issues. Her knee has given out on her several times and she's fallen. She can hardly stand up from a seated position and now walks with a cane. She's fallen so much she's afraid of falling again. Once when she was driving her car her foot slipped off the brake pedal and she shot out into traffic and almost caused a 5 car accident.

NIK and Ama, that's a great idea, but my mom won't hear of it. She's so independent. She's happy to be driving again I know she'll say no.
