Question  Posted: 7:57 AM, July 3rd (Wednesday)

FREAKIN AH-MAZ-ING!!!

So....it was pouring down rain on my way to the restaurant and I already had an opening line for him.... "Holy flood waters Batman!" (although I never used it...hehe)

I wore a cute classy lacey cream top with a cream colored skort and cute cream 3 and a half inch sandals. It was dressy but NOT overly dressy or over the top. "Just right" as they say in the Three little Bears story!

I walked in a little before he got there and ran to the bathroom to assess the flood damage but luckily not so bad!

I walk out and he is sitting on the bench waiting for me.... Oh my.... first impression is he looks EXACTLY like his pictures....and I think maybe even more handsome! He is about 5 foot 10...fit looking dark hair with little sprinkles of silver grey here and there...beautiful brown eyes ..nice tan...and clean shaven...(nice 1st impression)....although I immediately wanted to kick myself for my bad choice in footwear cause he is 5'10 and I made myself like 5'9 something....but oh well...

We sat down and he ordered a beer so we both had one (but just one each....so not over the top with that either.... good!)

We talked about all kinds of things....he is a runner but also does triathalons...(which I found fascinating cause I've never tri-ed to do one! har har) And, he told me about his awesome job which sounded complicated but pretty interesting. He does safety type engineering stuff for a local university (has a PHD) and is certified to be a therapist but he said that he couldn't compartamentalize well enough for that and would cry over a lot of his clients when he got home so he decided he couldn't do that anymore (for some reason I LOVED this....because my XWH was a super compartamentalizer and I love a man that has emotions....never been with a sensitive man before!) He has been all over for his job...New York, Chicago, Australia, Sweden! It all sounds so interesting since I'm a cubicle girl! haha

He has a 6 year old son and they travel together. He seems like a great dad and doted over talking about him. He values marriage and I had originally thought it was odd he had never been married but then he told me a story about how he was engaged and he had paid for the wedding and sent out the "save the date" cards....and the next day his fiancé left him for another man! Poor guy.... This was a long time ago....but I felt so bad for him. I suppose it was better then than after he said "I do" like most of us!!

But, he seemed completely accepting of his past and what happened and just told me that it was meant to be and they weren't meant for each other. He still wants to be married someday and even talked about not minding possibly having more children. This was nice to hear because I was expecting a man at the age of 38 who had never been married to maybe not be interested in that. Good to know.

But, for me...the date was awesome because the conversation flowed.... we had a lot of the same interests. Although he loves sushi....and I'm in the middle on that....but am willing to try it again....

Our waitress asked us if it was a first date... and I smiled... "Are we that obvious!?" Then she said, "Well, it was either a first date or you have been married for years! I wasn't sure which!"

After a 3 hour dinner and our waitress left for the night....he told me he had a great time and wanted to see me again and that maybe we could do something active next time! (which is totally cool with me!) A hike or a jog would be fun!

We did have that weird awkward moment when he walked me to my car...and kinda gave him a polite "side kiss" on the side of each other's mouth...and a hug. I don't normally kiss on the first date but this wasn't what I would consider technically a KISS....so it was okay. Completely gentleman-like.

So....my report is....I left having an awesome time...and I really do hope that I get to see him again! That is all!

OH...and this was the best PRE-Birthday present ever!!! My birthday is today! I am 34!

Just enjoy the moment.
