Between my daughter and me.

Any advice from anyone whose gone through this? I have sandwich baggies and cheap toothbrushes, so we can change them out every day. Going to change the drawer liner and scrub the drawer in the bathroom that holds the toothbrushes. DD and I are going to visit my doctor in two weeks (after we've gone through our antibiotics) and make sure we're clear, and talk to him about seeing a ENT specialist. My H has been swabbed twice now and he's not positive (thought he might be carrying the bacteria asymptomatically).

The hell, man?

I did this to us. Back in April I made the comment to my coworker that DD had not been sick all winter. Then I also made another comment about how I didn't think I'd ever had strep throat, and I was probably just one of those people who wasn't susceptible to it. Basically I sent the universe an engraved invitation to come and get me.

Do either of you chew your fingernails at all? I used to get repeated strep and other throat infections at one point. My doctor finally figured out what was happening and asked me to stop chewing my nails for a bit to see what happened. That pretty much cleared up any problems I was having. Just throwing it out there.

What are you going to do when he leaves you?

No fingernail chewing - but DD is a thumb-sucker.

do you have a dog? they can be carriers of strep. Need to get them checked. I had Strep infection 3 times in a row and if I would have gotten it a 4th time I would have had to have my dogs checked

I love my husband and kids, but there is something missing, LIKE MAYBE A LIFE!!!!!!!

We have a cat, no dog. The cat needs to be seen soon to have her blood pressure checked (she's old and on medication); I'll ask the vet if it's possible. Thank you - at this point I want to rule out anything!

MY DS had to get his tonsils out this year (he is 12) due to sooo many strep infections in one year, sleep apnea..etc.

Made a world of difference. Definately see an ENT for their take on things. And yes your H can be a carrier and not get it.

(((Jana & DD)))

Is there a chance that the antibiotics they have you on are not strong enough or your body has built a resistance to them so the infection never 100% goes away?

You guys are getting it from somewher, and once you get it, you are more prone to it for quite some time.

Are either of you drinking from water fountains at work or school? Using reusable drink containers? I would look into other people that you are around a lot, parents, sitters, teachers etc that may be carriers as well.

My son had a bad go with it in Kg and 1st grade. I made water fountains at school off limits, sent him with a water bottle daily, guess what? Never had it again. (he's 16 now).

Feel better soon.

They found my dd was a carrier. We had her checked when there were no symptoms and sure enough she was positive. A stronger med wiped it out for her.

We think the culprit may have been her ChapStick/lipgloss... You know how every Little girl loves that stuff!

So toss any of that kind of stuff, sep hand towels or paper towels until everyone is clear, no sharing of any utensils or drinks etc

They've been switching us up. I'm on Augmentin now and she's on . . . cephalexin, I think?

My kids were passing it back and forth and back again. I had both tonsils/adnoids taken out of both kids simultaneously.

Cut our strep infections by 90%.
