I posted earlier about my mixed feelings about this anniversary. Couldn't bring myself to buy anything for it -- WH got me a lovely necklace and organized our night out (stayed in a posh hotel downtown). He did say the nicest thing, though: that he didn't expect anything from me and that the biggest present I could have given him, I had: I stayed. He said this in a very thoughtful way, and repeated it throughout the weekend. So I do think he is truly grateful, which is a nice thing to see.

Maybe the rock in my heart is getting a little lighter.

Thank you! I purposely tried to avoid heavy stuff -- there's a time and a place for that -- and just focus on having fun. We rarely get that amount of time away from the kids (we basicly booked a sitter for 24hrs), so it was great just being able to wander around town without them. We moved to this city when our first was a baby, so we've never explored it the way we should. So it was really fun. And sleeping in... what a luxury!

I'm so glad it went well and you're feeling happy about it. . It gives me hope.

Our 25th is approaching and has been looming in my head with a feeling of dread. We have a close, large family who will make a big deal of it which of course under normal circumstances would be great. My husband knows how i feel and has suggested taking me away. To be honest, although it will be hard, I'm quite looking forward to getting away and not having to face any celebrations. After the last few months i think i deserve a bit of escapism.

I am so Happy that your anniversary was good...the date of my aniversary has been quite ruined forever I think...see my post o the your earlier thread...but there should be a special time to celebrate a marriage of so many years...I would love to chenge my date to our fisrt date or some ther significant time that started our relationship...so many years together cannot be replaced with an A even if the M ends.

Anyway it sounds as if your H understands that you are his greatest gift in this life and that he is greatful that he did not lose you.

Gutted -- yes, I agree, escape is a good idea. I've had a hard time dealing with all of the "wow, you guys are so great! 25 years!" comments. I've said before that we're one of those couples who everyone thinks is just wunnerful, which makes it really difficult when they make these comments. I can't imagine if I'd had to put up with even more of those. Get away! Sometimes a complete change of scenery can do you good. Crossroads -- maybe you can try to reclaim the day? I know it's just so hard.

Thanks for the support!
