So as most of you know, we were rear-ended in an accident about a month and a half ago.

DD went to the chiropractor for neck pain. Sure enough, whiplash. The doctor also pointed out curvature in her spine which "could" be early signs of scoliosis. He said he would treat that curvature as well as her neck, give it some time, xray her again, see how things progress.

Today....she was officially released from treatment. I saw the xrays and they are beautiful. Her neck is awesome, her neck vertebrae and T1 are in excellent position. AND, her back is as straight as an arrow. Curvature completely gone.

If it was scoliosis, and if it would have been an issue, we have caught it well enough in advance that minimal routine maintenance will keep it in check.

My DS has a 30 degree curvature (he's 27 now) - not *bad enough* to do anything about, but he has had minor back issues since highschool... and I'm just mom and doing anything about it (chiropractor/therapeutic massage) is just a waste of money So fine, suffer!

Glad your dd's curve has been corrected. Around here they check them for that in school as well at routine dr appts so hopefully if hers should *slip* again it will be caught and corrected quickly again!

Thanks guys. I'm pretty happy about it.

L2HM, the schools around here check too but we're homeschooled. Had it developed into something again, it would have probably taken longer for us to catch it. Guess in a way, the accident was a blessing in disguise. It gave us a heads up and we can be vigilant about it now.

That's what I was thinking...the accident was a blessing in disguise.

I'm glad she's so much better!

Yay! Great news!

My daughter has a slight curve which was detected in the 8th grade by the nurse. We go to the chiropractor and monitor it monthly. So far it's still there but not getting worse.

Guess in a way, the accident was a blessing in disguise.

A friend of mine was rear ended by someone going 45mph 2 years ago. She already had rods in her lower back from a nasty accident 15years before this. It ended up dislodging them and in X-rays and MRI's they found early stages of cancer in her kidney. She had the kidney removed as it was an aggressive form of cancer. She is cancer free.

Very blessed indeed.
