I don't know why, but I'm curious as to the favorite smells of my fellow SI'ers. And why, if you're willing to share.

Mine is cinnamon. Reminds me of Christmas.

I love the smell of freshly washed laundry. It just reminds me of 'cozy', and I love cozy .

Also, DD21 has a very distinct smell. It's sweet and clean and just...her. I love it. Whenever I kiss her on the cheek or on the head, it's more of an inhale. I can't get enough of it.

Baking bread. Pumpkin pie. Pine boughs. Vegetable soup cooking - always reminds of my grandma making soup.

I love the smell of lilacs! We had a beautiful, big bush of them when I was a kid.

Also, all this talk of clean....I love the smell of a clean person, right out of the shower.

Diesel and mud mixed with Old Spice deodorant. Sounds gross, I know, but my H drives a truck in the oilfield and that's how he smells when he comes home. Every day there is real danger in his job and sometimes he's gone for a week or more - so his smell is wonderfully comforting.
Besides that, baking bread (or anything baking really) and cinnamon and vanilla.

Love reading everyone's favorite scents. +1 to lavender, cinnamon, the ocean, the smell of your child's head...

frankincense and myrrh incense sticks
apple crisp baking
plants in general, purple roses and coyote brush in specific...
red velvet cupcake candle
gardenia, jasmine
the air after the rain
Angel's Trumpet, Butterfly Bush
the metal of the underground trains and escalators (only while pregnant - almost like a smell pica)
clean sheets
strawberries

Only one favorite smell? Hard to choose, there are so many wonderful things to smell in the world.

Can't decide.

How I smell after being outdoors for hours. Ozone-y. Same with laundry from the clothesline.

Roasting chicken.

Chocolate cake or cookies baking. There's a Christie's bakery not far from my house and I swear I gain two pounds when I walk past--from all the sniffing!

Baby heads after their baths.

Steak on the Barbie. I can smell it a mile away!

Flowers: lily-of-the-valley, jasmine, gardenia, orange blossoms, lilac, freesia

Yves Saint-Laurent perfume "Y". Can't wear it (allergic), but love it.

And....wait for it.....jet fuel. Honest.

Worst smell (other than the obvious ones- ) the odor of a potato chips factory.

Ohhh crayons. Love the smell of crayons. There's a candle store I love to go in because of the way the wax smells - it's not like a Yankee Candle type store, it's a place where they hand-dip candles.

Vanilla. Coffee. My daughter's hair after a bath with Johnson's bedtime bath (the lavender kind).

Dirt. Not filth, but earth. I love the smell of damp forest humus, digging in the garden. Something about being outdoors... I also like all the smells of plants - sage, pine, wildflowers.

I don't like the smell of dirty sweaty clothes. Very gross to me. I hate doing laundry because of the smell, even if it's very faint. I often run clothes through the wash 2 or 3 times to try to get the smell out.

The scent of the desert(creosote bushes)after a rain. It's intoxicating.

If only it could be bottled...

Right now it is Fall Leaves, by Glade...it'll probably change again (soon) In the winter I like Pine smells, so I'm sure by mid-Oct I will be wanting a Pine smell in my home

I love a lot of smells:

fresh washed laundry
baking bread
strawberries
pumpkin pie
pine trees
coffee
Lemons
lily of the valley
tomato vines
lilacs
honeydew
peaches
jasmine
chocolate chip cookies from the oven
old spice
babies (clean ones haha)
steaks and garlic
fresh cut grass
leather
Chanel no 5 cologne (reminds me of mom)
honeysuckle
the ocean
smoke from a bonfire
wood, from a lumberyard or home improvement store

Omigod! I can't believe someone else loves the smell of Vick's Vaporub

However, it's a close second to vanilla, my absolute favorite smell. Third would be maple trees in bloom on a warm spring evening. Mmmmmm....

Open a bag of marshmallows. Take a big sniff.

That's my favorite smell. If I could successfully use bags of marshmallows as pillows, I would be a happy camper.

Burning leaves.

I want to know why they don't make candles that smell like this.

I think I'll add fresh paint. The guys are painting the barn next door and besides making it look awesome i find the smell is nice.

Bacon!!!

FYI, there's Bacon scented Yankee Candles. I was crazy enough to pop the top and take a whiff.

Orange trees blossoming. It has such a profound impact on me, brings me peace.

Willow tree bark after it rains!

Cigar. Reminds me of my grandpa.

Chocolate easter bunnies. Those hollow ones.

Hyacinths.

Rosemary.

Baby powder.

English Lavender.

The candy store at Disneyland, and their ice-cream parlor where they sell the fresh fudge.

Fried foods frying at carnivals.

Sage.

I don't care for the smell of jet fuel but I do love the smell of Klotz two stroke oil burning.
