User Topic: Dinner on our 13th anniversary? I don't think so

STBXWHNPDPAFTG sent me some texts last night. One was "16 years ago tonight?" meaning that our first date was 16 years ago. The other was "I'm out on the porch thinking of both the expanse and the shortness of time. You?"

OK, so first of all, kudos to me for my reactions. Initially, it was basically I think, that possibly I have achieved indifference. He got crickets, and it wasn't even difficult. The messages came in at 10:30 at night, and I even slept just fine.

Today, I notified him I would be stopping by his place to pick up some items he had stored for a non-profit we are mutually involved in. He responds inviting me to dinner, his treat. At a restaurant I've been at with him, in tears. Where I've left after throwing my napkin in his face and walked 2 miles home. It's not a great place for me. But he likes it! I told him I ate already.

I'm healing people. It may be technically our anniversary. The perseid meteor showers - OK, so what if our first date was stargazing, and we commemorated it by exchanging vows 3 years later. Whatever. I don't know if I will even bother looking up.

I am looking forward to meeting him in court however. My sister bought me a six-pack of Alimony Ale. I'm saving some.

Its been foggy (literally) overnight here for weeks. This morning I woke up to a lovely sunrise instead of gray gloom

I have seen this on SI a few times....where an EX wants to have dinner on the anniversary.

If mine ever asks, I am going to counter the offer with:

"Sorry, I am not available. However, if you would like to get together on July 27th to recite our divorce decree....I am all in!"
