I asked before what your favorite state was and now I want to know which one(s) you hate. Or if there is a specific city, name that too. Why do they suck, in your opinion?

The state I live in (KS). If my family and friends would move with me, I would be outta here.

The weather is extreme - it's tornado alley. I feel like I'm in a backwater. Would love to move somewhere more arid and that had a longer (motorcycle) riding season. Although I still manage to ride at least once each month during the year.

Illinois....There is no relief from the weather.

Winters are so cold and summers are humid!

Although driving through Nebraska gave me the chills...children of the corn chills Obviously it was corn season and that's all I saw for miles!

I like everything from Colorado west.

Well, I learned about True Hate the five years I lived in Miami. There's no amount of money you could pay me to step back into FL. So many ethnic/racial groups, and they all hate and kill each other. Daily body-part finds on the beach....dead chickens in paper bags on doorsteps, riots. It was a nightmare.

For more generalized dislike? I'd have to say MO, where I am now, for all of the same reasons that LisaP listed for IL. It's been almost impossible to date here....my politics aren't welcome in MO .

If I had unlimited (or at least MORE) $$, and my kids were there, I'd be in San Francisco in a heartbeat. For me, there's no better place!

Eta: I grew up in a VERY diverse area...what is now called south Los Angeles. Not so diverse anymore, but when I grew up, we were lucky to live in a community with a diverse ethnic/racial population. Yes, there were issues....but people are often surprised at how "Mayberry-like" it used to be. So, I HAVE seen disparate groups thrive together....just not in Miami.

Mine is a region. Not a fan of the Deep South: humidity, fleas, ticks, fire ants, roaches you could saddle up and ride. And no seasons. Hot and humid or mild and humid. And You have to mow the grass for ten months. No snow. Blech.

Not a fan of the Deep South
Ditto, but for different reasons.
My parents grew up in the region during the 50s and 60s. My father, who wasn't yet a teen at the time, found his father (my grandfather) murdered near their home.
I still visit my grandmom and a few other relatives that live there still, but I've never been comfortable there.

SMY, I don't follow your logic?
If the first statement is true, wouldn't you consider the second to be a good thing?

Other than that observation, I am staying the hell out of this thread.

Oklahoma - Seriously this is the armpit of America. Most of it is flat, barren, and dirt poor.
Had to drive through it a ton of times in the 2 years we lived in Dallas, and commuted back home. I dreaded it each time.
The people were very kind, but ugh, the state is so ugly.

I apologize if I have offended in Okies.

NJ...the western part is beautiful. The people...uhm...difficult. There are tons of reasons I have trust issues. My rose colored glasses were rudely smashed to smitherines here

I grew up in n.e. los angeles. Miss it but wont live there. To me, its difficult NOW to raise kids.

Isn't it funny what one person likes another dislikes.

I find the rows of corn for miles and miles to be comforting. To me it says "home." Rows and rows of soybeans is even better, though. They don't get as tall.

What do I dislike - anything with lots of trees. It makes me feel claustrophobic. If they would just get rid of the trees - then you could see something. Guess I am used to being able to see for miles and miles.

When I was in HS my goal was to go to a college that was not in HomeTown and then after graduation from college to get the hell out of Alabama. I succeeded and I have not looked back, but I did not land very far from AL.

I had to move to Kansas because of my ex's job way, way back in 1980. I'm still here and I would be outa here in a heartbeat if I could replicate my job situation somewhere (anywhere) else. The weather stinks, and it's just uninteresting, besides way too conservative for me. But I live in a nice area, the people are generally pretty nice and KU basketball almost totally makes up for it.

I don't like any state east of the Mississippi River. There's just too many people. The southeast has horrible humidity and the northeast has crappy winters. There are a few places I would be fine visiting for a short period of time (a week or less), but living there is not for me.

I HAVE to have trees. The selling point on this house were the trees next to it that shade it in the summer. I like the area I live in but do not like the allergies that come with it.

Honestly though, I could find something to like and dislike about any area that I live in so it doesn't matter too much to me. I'm pretty adaptable.

I don't *dislike* any states, but there are states that would not be a good fit for me. Let's just leave it at that.
