I was watching a show on Netflix called Pretty Little Liars. It's about teenage girls, but there are 2 infidelity-related side stories with some of the man characters parents. I found myself getting oddly upset by it. I don't normally get triggered like that. It was weird. And by a stupid trashy TV show for teens of all things!

Keep calm and carry on.

Sorry you were triggered. Just goes to show you we all have weird little things hidden away in our brains.

BTW, I hate that stupid show.

It's weird dck, but even after we feel we are totally past it all and moved on just fine, we can still trigger over the most unexpected things.....

Happens to me every once in a while also, and always seems to come out of the blue. Sometimes now I can watch infidelity related shows and they don't bother me at all, then something will set me off and it is like I am back to d-day again!

Oh I can relate to that. I've come to accept infidelity plot lines, but lately I've been triggering like crazy over the cult of narcissism on so many shows. Weeds, House, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, the latest is this new Netflix show House of Cards. I found myself getting aggravated at the mere thought my SO was enjoying the Kevin Spacey character. I still enjoy watching these shows and all, but yikes, the thought that people think these egomaniacs are something to emulate

I find it weird because I really had felt I was numb to it. I love Mad Men. I loooooved House of Cards. Maybe it's easier when the cheaters are hateable characters? On Liars, one of the man characters caught her father cheating and he made her keep it a secret. Then there's a scene where the OW shows up at a party being thrown by the mom/BW. She invited the OW thinking the woman was just a colleague of her husband. The teen girl confronts her and the OW tells her basically to eff off. I thought I was going to cry and vomit at the same time.

Keep calm and carry on.

I've triggered over an episode of Dora the Explorer. Not even infidelity related.

True story.

I may have reached a point where I'd piss on him if he was on fire.... eventually!!

I could see that. I think it's easier not to trigger when you expect it. As you said, PLL is a stupid trashy show for teenage girls, you were probably planning for mindless entertainment. I used to like watching it after d-day because I knew WXH would hate it. It was comforting to have a show that was mine, all mine, even if it was a stupid trashy show for teens
