Really shouldn't lol

Today I bought a vacuum. Ours had decided its sucking days were done.

We tried so many things to get it back on his feet (new belt for example) but alas, it now is retired.
Must say it was good timing. The same brand went on sale this week. And now a new "purple" version sits in my living room.

Really...cleaning...who gets excited about this? Me apparently. No sooner did wh have it together I was going to town on the carpet. What's shocking is that we didn't expect just two days without a vacuum would amount to so much dirt

Or maybe...(and secretly this is what I think lol) the old vacuum had decided a LONG time ago that picking up dirt was no longer fun...yep.

Owell. Now I have a new vacuum and my carpet shall be cleaner than ever. Woohoo.

So anyone else get excited over something that they really shouldn't?

I totally feel your new vacuum excitement. When H bought me a Dyson a few years ago I was so excited, I was yelling and jumping up and down. He said, "Who gets so excited over a vacuum cleaner?" I said, "You just don't understand!"

Add me to the group. I love paper....loose leaf, tablets, composition books, spiral notebooks, etc....Yep, I might need an intervention.

And, free samples. I register for free samples online and I get giddy when I check the mail and I've received one.

Numbers in some sort of sequential order. For instance, I sent SO a special text yesterday when I noticed that it was 12:34 p.m. I took the day off to celebrate 12/12/12. I remember staying up all night during sleepovers and annoying my BFF with announcements of special times (10:01, 10:10, 11:11, 12:12, 12:21, 12:34, etc.). Delightful.

I get excited when I out do myself in coupon savings.

Last week at the grocery store the cashier handed me the receipt and mumbled how much I saved. I turned to MH and said "how much did she say?" and the lady behind me said "$55.00!...that's awesome!" LOL!! I turned to her and said "my highest to date is $73.00, I'm still trying to beat that without buying a bunch of crap we don't need or eat "

I love clipping and sorting and shopping with coupons...it's like free money if you do it right

Wow. That is sooooo cool. I will lay awake in bed staring at the clock waiting for some specific time. If its 10:20 I'll watch until 11:20. Like some sort of OCD thing in my head. The digital 8 drives me crazy. I'll run through ALL the numbers as many times as I can before it changes to 9. All of the numbers are represented in the digital 8. Ok that's weird I admit!

Now I use my iPhone clock so I make sure to turn it away so I can't stare at it.

Do you think being excited that the kids are in bed so I can put on an adult movie is ok to count into this category?

I just got a new dishwasher. I have been running it non-stop for 3 days now. Have been cleaning out the kitchen cabinets and washing everything in sight!

Oh, and I even got all my fine china out of the china cabinet and washed that because the dishwasher has a fine china setting, and I wanted to check it out, lol!

Ok good.

It's funny how much I appreciate an adult movie after the kids have watched Finding Nemo or A Turtle Tale five times in a row.

No clue why both of tem get so excited about seeing the same movie over and over and over...

I am looking forward to spoiling myself with a dish drain that has a section for cutlery... I don't have a dishwasher lol.

for you sequential order people... My youngest was born 11-11-11 at 10:10 pm. And no, it wasn't planned that way :) My secret "get excited over" is house shopping. I will spend hours tracking down my dream home in the area we want to move to. We aren't moving for 3-5 years!

I always try to see how many times I can going through the numbers on the digital eight. I think twelve was my record. Of course this is always something I do when I can't sleep and am staring at the clock

I'm another office supply geek. I get to purchase for a department of 15 and it makes me happy every time!

Clean sheets. Maybe that's not so strange. After all, who doesn't like clean sheets ?!?

I really like to get mail. Not that I like bills but any mail is good mail to me. I think it's from when I was stationed overseas a million years ago before cell phones and email (well, civilian email anyway).

The numbers thing - all three of my kids were born on the 30th, but in different months. No, not caesarean either. The other weird part is that two are not my birth children, but they are mine in every other way. Fate.

I SOOO hear you about the vacuum cleaner.

I love cleaning full-stop, not just the rage cleaning. I clean when I'm happy too.

There's nothing better than a spick-and-span home environment.

I can't stand for the girls toys (animals or dolls) to look 'uncomfortable' so when they go to bed everything gets put away 'comfy'. .

I love the symmetry of numbers too.

My girls were born 2/2 and 9/9 - both after 2.5 hours at the Birth Centre.

I see patterns in numbers several times a day and it always makes me smile. The number patterns I notice are always related to happy things. It makes me happy!

Hahahaha! I get it completely.

I bought a new toilet. It was delivered the other day and I'll be installing it tomorrow.

Yes, I'm excited about it! I've been slowly remodeling my bathroom. This is one more step toward the finish line.

At the IL's the toilet didn't flush. Had to use a bucket... Apparently they still do.

Can't tell you how nice it is to have a working toilet. And a shower that sprays harder than a dribble

I love vacuum cleaners as well. My late H always said I was the only woman he knew who would be happy getting a new vac for Mother's Day - and he gave me one too! I vacuum daily, not just to get the house clean (heck, with 5 cats I just can't stand to have fur or tracked litter anywhere), but it also actually relaxes me. I used to refer to it as putting my house in order when I'd come home from work and needed to de-stress.

Getting a "good" shopping cart.

Opening a bag of chips and not having the bag tear all the way down the side.

Having all the socks match up out of the dryer (still waiting to experience this).

I would probably lose my mind if I got a new vacuum

Soup.
Yep.. soup. When I want to make soup and start cooking from scratch it's always because Fall is coming and I want to nest. So when I have an urge to make soup I know my favorite season is on it's way.

Bought myself my own drill and a scroll saw (still haven't used to saw but I have it lol). I like building things...

I get it.
I asked for a new hose for our central vac for Christmas a couple years ago. The old on was cracked, and falling apart, had 4 different kinds of duct tape holding it together. So when Santa brought the new one I was over the moon. Lets face it with 3 dogs and a cat I needed one that was functional.

I also LOVE clean sheets. We even "celebrate" clean sheets day.

Something that I get Jazzed over but....is new cooking tools. It can be something as cheap and simple as a spatula, or big spoon.

Garbage day.
I love emptying every trash bin in the place and not just transferring it to a bigger bin, but knowing that the men are coming to take it away today!

I also get a high every time my kids give me an old toy or a piece of clothing that doesn't fit. I just love getting rid of stuff, lol.

I too do the number thing with digital clocks (I actually had to get an old fashioned clock with alarm in college because I was losing too much sleep staring at the numbers).

And I'm anal retentive about opening bags of chips, cereal, etc. - I HATE when the very far edges are still glued together, and I HATE when it rips down the side! I have a friend who opens bags along the seam down the back of the bag and it makes me twitchy, even though it's kind of cool that it forms a sort of bowl.

And I love house hunting too. I've helped more friends find apartments and condos...

I think my weirdest one is that I love researching products. If I get bored at work, I'll just go on amazon and find a random product, and start researching it. I research brands, features, options, etc. and then price compare across several sites, new and used, and then decide that if I were buying this product, I would get xyz. And then I close the browser and go about my business like the last three hours never happened. It's like window shopping for nerds.

Opening a bag of chips and not having the bag tear all the way down the side.

Yah! This!! ^^^

I got excited moving into my antique apartment in April. A bathtub! Full length!! New glaze!!!

That was pretty damn exciting.

Other than that I haven't really gotten excited about things, but I can get really excited about a nice vacation, a big rock show or a new-to-me vintage guitar.

I guess I'm just a big-ticket excitement kind of gal.

Finding an amazing pimple or cyst popping video on YouTube

By amazing, I mean one whose videographer held still enough, tons of chunky pus shoots out, and it takes at least 4 minutes of squeezing to empty it.
