Good friends of mine just moved into a new house this week. The husband's birthday was last week and the wife's birthday is next week. SO and I want to get them a housewarming/birthday gift, but we can't seem to come up with any ideas we like. I thought getting them something for outside or their yard. I thought of getting them a hammock, not realizing how expensive they are! Since it's two birthdays and a housewarming gift combined, we're willing to spend a little more, but $250 is a bit much.

Suggestions?

Personally, I like to receive gift cards, and unless I know EXACTLY what someone wants, I usually give them.

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

I'm a huge fan of receiving Visa gift cards. I can spend it whereever I like.
On the flip side, I've never had anyone complain about receiving one either, because again, its akin to cash.

If you want to go with an outdoor theme, how about one of those fire pits things? Or if they have a grill, some grilling accessories? Other ideas:

-a personalized address plague

-a personalized mailbox or welcome mat

-a gardening center gift certificate

-a nice garden/outdoor flag and flagpole

Just throwing ideas out there!

My traditional housewarming gift is put into a nice container and includes:

Bread, so your home may never know hunger

Salt, so your life may always have flavor

Wine, so your life is sweet

Candle, so you always have light

Then you can throw in a Home Depot gift card!

I love this!! I'm going to have to steal it for future use.

Steal away! I certainly stole it from someone, who stole it from an old tradition!
