The Court hearing regarding my D took place Monday. It was uncontested and straight forward so there was no need to attend. Court proceeding results are available online so I was curious to see if it had been reviewed. I checked the Court Registry and D Judgement was registered Aug 20th and will be final Sept 19th (yay for me!!...champagne is chilling...set countdown timer...so freakin' excited).

Anyhoo...while I was on the Court Registry site, I thought I would do a search on shit weasel's name to see if there are any actions filed against him, was he arrested, any claims for non-payment,etc. Court records are public after all. Well he was there all right. He filed for bankruptcy! LMAO!

He has always been terrible with money, spent beyond his means and is all about instant gratification (hence the A I suppose... but that is fodder for another post).

I guess upkeep of Fantasy Land Castle must be expensive...there's maintenance of the moat, feeding the unicorn herd, financing fire works displays, sparkle dust and all of the extravagant gifts for her majesty Princess Skankapotamus.

Aw...poor little butter bean. No one to bail you out? It's tough being a grown-up, isn't it shithead. I guess the king of the castle really turned out to be the village idiot. How's that workin' for ya?

Karma bus...shazam!!!

I love it. Hope the karma bus hits my ex-asshat going 200 mph.

Yeah, I hear those Skankapotamuses are high upkeep.

I could be wrong but if you have any joint debt that he agreed to take in divorce and he the declares bankruptcy they might be able to come after you if your name was on the debt.

Also,

Don't know if it applies in your case, but if it does, check the laws in your state on spousal support and bankruptcy. He may be doing this as a way of getting out from under obligations that were agreed to in the divorce.

Thanks for the advice vcr1995 and circlingthedrain. We had no joint debt and there was no spousal support. The debt we had (well, the debt HE had) was consolidated onto our mortgage shortly before I discovered the the A. He signed the house over to me and I took over the mortgage. I checked with my lawyer when we drafted the separation agreement 2 yrs ago as to what would happen if he declared bankruptcy (did I see that coming or what). He assured me that once the agreement was signed, there was nothing that anyone could come after me for. He was on his own after that. It was like resetting the clock.

Interesting that this is the first time in a lot of years that I have paid the mortgage down and not incurred more debt. I realize now that had I stayed with STBX, I would have had to work until I was 90 before I could have thought about retirement. So glad he's not my problem anymore. Can I get a "hell yeah"?!

Glad to hear you have it taken care of. Then the only thing to do is to grab some popcorn and sit back and enjoy the show.
