Today is "our" 16th. I don't feel like it's anything to celebrate. What would we celebrate, his inability to keep his vows?
He's taking me out to dinner. At first, I didn't want to go because I felt I would be too depressed but after reading another post, I've decided to "reclaim" this day as my own and enjoy an expensive dinner. Maybe next year will feel more like a day to celebrate something?

P.S. He's agreed to take a poly and I've emailed the examiner my WH's timeline and my questions I want him to ask. I pray nothing more comes out and no lies are discovered because I've told him that I'm finished if he lies to me again.

First of all Happy Anniversary. I hope that you can have a nice dinner and try to put the shit out of your head for a few hours (I know that is difficult) My first anniversary after D day was horrible...just a blur right now. The next one was significantly better and the one that just passed was fabulous. We had the best day. Hang in there...it will get better. Good luck with the poly...may it help you with the healing process.

I've decided to "reclaim" this day as my own and enjoy an expensive dinner.

I think this is a great place to start, and go from there. Kind of takes the pressure off of "celebrating". Take it for what it is... a very nice meal, and maybe you two can catch up and talk. I think reclaiming the day as your own is a wonderful approach.

On the side note: I'm glad he agreed to take the poly. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that all goes well.

My DD was the day after my 24th anniversary. I doubt I can ever reclaim the day. Before DD was a lie and he broke his vows. I think we might need a new anniversary. I just don't know how I will handle it next year. It will probably trigger me.
