I couldn't be happier for the tax payers of Ohio,

why have to pay for someone so evil's living expenses,

I hope that all those affected by his actions can find peace

I do feel bad for the girls in this case.

They were imprisioned for 11 years. He will not have to be in prision that long, he is dead.

In some ways, relief that they would never have to face him again would be felt. On the other hand, he's not sitting in jail rotting away. This end is to good for him imo.

So he was basically in protective custody in a cell all by himself where guards made the rounds every 30 minutes and he was not on suicide watch.

Seems a bit fishy to me.

What did he hang himself with? How did it get in his cell and left un-noticed?

Not that I care he's dead...personally I would have liked to see the general population at the prison have about 1 hour with him. He deserved to suffer and hanging doesn't take nearly long enough to inflict pain and mental anguish...in my opinion.

I read that he hung himself with his bed sheet.

And that they tried to revive him.

I hope they didn't try too hard.

My soul struggles with the feeling of relief for someone's death, but I do feel relief. I hope his victims aren't even more traumatized by this. I don't know what complex feelings they might have and what they might need the most for recovery, so I pray that this doesn't interfere with their healing and that maybe they feel that one dangerous soul has left the world.

Won’t pretend that I shed a tear or mourned his death. ..
But it does raise one question in my mind: What made him chose to die? I hope it was his conscience because – if nothing else – it might indicate a realization and a grasp of the concept that what he did was wrong. At least I hope his victims can see it that way.

Here's the full story.

Im guessing he did it because he is a coward, and facing a lifetime in prison was too much for him. He held those girls for 10 years...he couldn't handle 10 months.

I pray for those girls and their families. I hope today they have peace.

I'm sure the girls mostly feel relief.

As just a very small comparison I had a coworker who threatened me physically and about a year after I fired him he killed himself. I know this is terrible but I felt GREAT because I didn't have to look over my shoulder anymore. He was just GONE.

Even though Castro was in prison the irrational side of those girls had to always wonder.... now it is just OVER.

I'm almost ashamed to say that I smiled when I saw this on Yahoo this morning.

Good riddance.

I wouldn't be. I have pretty radical views though, so i won't really go there.

I think that he saved the tax payers a lot of money, those girls a lot of strife, and the prison a lot of grief for him being in there.

Last night when I heard I was considering posting "only a thousand years to go".

I read that he hung himself with his bed sheet.
And that they tried to revive him.

I hope they didn't try too hard.

I hope they pounded on him real hard while attempting CPR. I hope they actually revived him and kept going "just to be safe".

Here is one time when I don't think too many people care that this person is gone. I don't believe even his own children care.

As far as death being too good for him, so would sitting in jail the rest of his years, probably being allowed a TV and other things. There could be no way to REALLY get justice for what he did, so IMO death is best because it will cost the taxpayers less.

Too bad he didn't do it before kidnapping the first girl.

IF there was no impropriety on behalf of the prison staff (and unfortunately, based on my rather intimate knowledge of prisons, this is a big IF), don't celebrate his passing. It would have been his ultimate FUCK YOU to the world. He plead guilty to escape the death penalty; it would seem obvious that he's thumbing his nose at society.

The latest I heard, his cousin (I think) was trying to paint his death as a homicide, basically saying there was no way he could have killed himself while in solitary confinement. Shows how much they know.

ETA @ Sad, I was thinking that the guards took a bit longer between check ups than the 30 minutes they were supposed to. If this was the case, it would be hard to prove, I think.

Jazz nailed it - he's a huge coward. His victims are the ultimate example of strength - kind of ironic really,

I always thought it was fishy that his son claimed not to know anything about what his Dad was doing. How can you hold 3 girls in your home for all those years and no one in the family knew??

I hope the bastard burns in hell for all eternity and is f#$%ked up his ass every few minutes by a mean big dicked donkey. Sorry, but thats how I feel. Good ridance and I hope those poor girls can rest more easily now.

But it does raise one question in my mind: What made him chose to die? I hope it was his conscience because

One never knows, but I highly doubt it. He claimed he was "sick" but not a monster. He claimed the sex was consential. Does it sound like there is a conscience hidden somewhere under all that? Not to me. If he had a conscience, there might have been an odd day somewhere in those 10 + years that he might have thought, oh, gee, today, I think I'm going to let these girls go and set them free.

Of course, nobody can be sure, but I believe he did it because he didn't like solitary confinement. Again it was selfish. He decided death would be preferable. But I don't care that he took the easy way out. I would not mind if more murderers and rapists did that as well.
