If you had a chance to visit friends and visit local sites on the weekend(Yom Kippur)would you prefer doing that or a relaxing day at home reflecting?

It is the Aholiest Of Days for us. Those that take it serious would not like to be distracted with secular issues and sites. But, everyone practices differently. It is best to ask.

Depends on whether or not you're Jewish and your flavor, if you are.

As a Jew, I don't find Yom Kippur reflections to be relaxing, and the only local site I would travel to on Yom Kippur is a synagogue so I could participate in public prayer.

But that's me. Some Jews would consider me to be an apostate. Others would consider me to be way too Orthodox.

In this, as in so many things, you have to make your own choice and hope you're making the one that is best for you and, if you're Jewish, I guess you need to consider 'the community', too.

I made plans and I didn't want people to feel obligated. For example I had a friend who was married Jewish and Jewish herself and had a Christmas tree. I know things vary but on special holidays I want to be sensitive.

I think the best people to ask would the people directly involved in your plans.
