Lordy - if ONLY it were skunks!!! I've got three words for you all:

hog confinement run-off

Please to note - he doesn't work at a hog confinement facility. He doesn't have any friends who do, either. In fact, he has NO GOOD REASON to be anywhere near a hog confinement. Or even a single hog. Ever. Really.

He needs to majorly de-stankify before I can get close enough to interrogate.

You might want to grab a beverage and settle in. Sigh.

So, DS - who we'll call Beavis for the duration of this post (for reasons that will quickly reveal themselves) - was sitting around yesterday with his buddy Butthead. Butthead is *that* friend - the guy who sticks firecrackers into watermelons to see if they would explode, wonders what would happen if you microwave a remote control, etc.. You know *that* kid. There's one in every roving pack of teenage boys.

Anywho... Beavis and Butthead were lounging around, bemoaning their dire financial situation. Butthead pipes up that his Uncle might have some odd jobs they could do around his farm for a couple of bucks. Dude - awesome idea!

So the dudes jump in Beavis' truck (a thoroughly rusted out Dodge 1500) and drive over to Uncle's farm. They can't find him near the house, so they decide to take to the level B roads around the farm in search of him, figuring he's out working somewhere in the fields.

Yada yada, unexplained tangent, a few logical leaps and several narrative gaps later, they are driving through what they *think* is a wet field, and chalking the massive floody puddle up to the rains over the weekend. It's only AFTER they get through the floody part (and the liquid has splashed into every nook and cranny of the truck and has infiltrated every rusted through spot on the quarter panels) that the smell hits them. And then they realize that they aren't actually on Uncle's farm anymore, but have wandered into a a runoff area for the next door hog facility.

But dudes! They are totally tripping, because there's no way that's not Uncle's land!

So they call the game and head back to my place.

Fortunately, Beavis pulled himself together enough to NOT go into the house, but rather wait for me outside.

Both of them were hosed off behind the garage, where their clothes still sit, "airing" out.

They cleaned the Dodge for hours last night. HOURS. I'm still making him park it downwind from the house.

Day 3 - When the temps were cool this morning, there was little detectable odor. With the heat and humidity this afternoon, the fragrance is blooming.

I advised Beavis to wait until winter to sell the truck.

Personally I'd make him park the truck in the nearest mall parking lot for the duration.

For those of you, ahem, holding your breath for an update...

The front axel broke on the truck about a week ago, stranding it in the middle of our 100 ft driveway, where it sat until o'dark-thirty this morning when its new owner came to tow it away.

Farewell, Dirty Dodge.

That is some rancid Hog Confinement runoff that it corroded the front axel

Craigslist. He was totally honest in the listing, priced it at blue book minus the cost of repairing the axel and then came down another hundred for the buyer's inconvenience of having to tow it, and it sold within a day.

I was incredulous. Turns out the buyer works for a towing company that owns a service business as well, so he could tow it for free and repair it for less than what DS gave credit for. Win win.
