Every Christmas season the debate rages on around here as to what exactly it is, then I saw it over in the SPF thread and I realized this little guy just needs a santa hat.

What a festive looking groundhog.

Why not?

If the stores can decorate for Christmas before Halloween, we can start our annual debate.

No, no, NO. It's a PUPPY! Not a beaver, not a groundhog, not a chipmunk, a puppy.
We need MH to settle the question but it seems he enjoys the debate as much as we do... not to mention the fact that he's the only one who knows for sure.

(it's gonna be a long season, innit?)

I don't know what it says about me that this has become one of my favorite parts of Christmas...

Let the debate begin!

Puppy.

Also...

not to mention the fact that he's the only one who knows for sure.

There's one or two individuals *cough* aesir *cough* TR *cough* that think they're all knowing in the Christmas critter debate.

P.u.p.p.y.

It's always been a puppy, and it's still a puppy.

Puppy.

Puppy.

Puppy.

Black tailed prairie dog. http://www.defenders.org/black-tailed-prairie-dog/basic-facts

A Beaver's eyes don't bug out like that.

It is not a puppy. Puppies have ears.

Well, of course the animal that lingerdog posted is a prairie dog.

That has precisely nothing to do with this debate.

Puppy.

Puppy.

Puppy.

I have to say I lean towards Christmas beaver, just on principle.

SBB, if you look closely at the gif, you will see it *definitely* has ears. Big, floppy ears, almost like a bassethound.

I'd almost be willing to bet that during "debate season" (AKA Christmas) MH is giggling to himself in that "I've got a secret" way.

Geez. You don't often get a chance to put all of that Animal Planet watching to good use and when you do.... its definitely a Bassethound.

ETA. I thought F&G had finally gone over the edge.

This IS early, isn't it? Linger, you are worse than the department stores. Even they won't put up their Christmas stuff until out Thanksgiving is over. 2 1/2 more weeks.
