User Topic: Tonight I miss him

My H works very long hours. 70 hours a week is normal. Many of those are out of town. Entire days off are rare. Yesterday, he was off. We spent the day doing normal stuff. We looked at new washers and dryers (a purchase we intend to make with our tax return). We gave each other ideas for Christmas gifts and started looking at Christmas for the kids. We went grocery shopping. We hung out at the house. At bedtime, I melted down over spilling a glass of tea when I was trying to be seductive. I spiraled over how he could want me and our life when he could have the fantasy his A's offered. He handled it beautifully. We went to bed with me feeling emotionally closer than I have in months. And tonight, as he is unexpectedly having to stay overnight on a job, I miss him. I'm not worried about where he is or what he's doing. I just genuinely, deep-down miss him. Even more than I would have before dday. It sucks, but it is also encouraging. Some days I'm so amazed at how far we've come.

Happy for you for that ordinary day together, that reassurance from your H, and for those healthy missing him feelings. Sorry that you are missing him, of course.
