Saturday was my first of hopfully many more triathlons. This was really short at 1/2 the distance of a sprint tri, but I just wanted to get one under my belt. Swim was 350 meters, bike was 10K (6 miles) and run was 2.5 K (1.5 miles).

Not sure why I spend all those hours in the pool trying to perfect my swim stroke. Once in the water I just slugged my way with terrbible form! Out of 75 I was one of the last ones out of the water

Made up for it on the bike. Keeping true to my user name I had the fastest bike leg and held on for the run. Finished 8th overall, and 6 out of 50 for the men.

Probably will not do another one this year with the holidays and busy kids activities. But definitely planning on improveing the swim and doing some more.

I used to race bikes and it was all 30 plus men with high testosterone. Nice thing about tri's is there are all ages. I talked to a grandmother who did a 3 generation relay tri the week before. There were kids as young as 8! Being a small distance most were beginners and just happy to be there so the vib was nervous but low key.

Congrats. That is impressive!!!

Consider working with a swim coach a few times to help you improve your form. It makes all the difference in the world when you can glide through the water, instead of slogging through. You certainly have the basics, but there are a few things that probably can be improved on to make it much easier on you.

(Why anyone would waste biking time on swimming or running, I'll never understand - but if a tri is your idea of a good time, I'm very happy you did it. )

Congratulations!! I would love to do one, but not the strongest swimmer. Did a biathlon a couple of months ago and enjoyed it.
