My chocolate chip cookies came out very flat... What did I do wrong?

if there was butter in them, it could be they just spread too much. or your leavening was old, and didn't work.

The batter seemed really thin... I think my butter was a bit too soft. I had to run out and get flour and it sat out too long. The baking soda was fresh... new box, just opened.

I might have shorted myself on flour too...

I used to make nice, thick chew cookies... I've lost my touch.

Oh I'm sure they'll get eaten.

We're having our annual "Thanksgiving Day" feast at our school tomorrow. Kids are allowed to have two guests show up to eat with them.

It's going to be a Cluster you-know-what... but at least the flat cookies will get eaten.

I made cookies once with old baking soda....they were round bullets it was hillarious.
