I'm working on decorating the house this weekend with help from DD and DS (and "help" from NIKcat ). More pics to come when the day is over, but for now - the tree:

And the stove top snowman guarding our pumpkin bread reward (my Mom's recipe).

Your turn! Post 'em if you've got 'em!

Love it NIK!

I'm craving pumpkin bread now.

Only have two trees up so far.

This one is my Angel Tree. It's a small 2 foot tree on our fireplace that hold heirloom angels from my fraternal grandmother and my maternal great-grandmother. There's also angels I made, and that my daughter has started to collect. (Oddly, she started collecting angels before my grandmother's passed away. She was honored to inherit their ornaments)

This is our Memories Tree. Ornaments from early in our marriage, gifts from friends, oodles of things my children have made over the years. There's also more heirlooms from my grandmothers.

When QS gets home, we're going to pick out a live tree which will go in the living room. That one is the "Pretty Tree" where everything is all matchy-matchy and organized.

Since I have room for them? Three. (One in the living room, 1 in the family room, 1 on the fireplace.) Plus a tiny one in each child's room. Which makes 5.

I do somehow have a spare artificial tree too. If I get bored and have enough leftover ornaments, I might stick that one down in the library/school room.

Yeah. I kinda like Christmas.

Love seeing these. Gorgeous trees, ladies! I was wondering about the number of trees in Aubrie's house, too.

I love the decorations but wasn't able to do any at all last year. The year before, I was ecstatic to finally be able to decorate to my heart's content and as early as I wanted since I was alone. Xpos never wanted any at all unless we were having everyone at our house. Then he would want a tree up for about 3 days that included Christmas day. Traveling around Christmas again this year, so will have to see what I can handle around that.

Okay, I read this as Holiday Decoration Thread, as in what you sew with. I was totally expecting to see some glittery, sparkly thread of some kind that you sew things with or something.

lynn - you already have presents under your tree?

I have quite a bit of shopping done, but the wrapping doesn't happen until a day or two before Christmas at my house.

NIK, yep, almost all my gifts are wrapped and under the tree now. Because I have last minute prep for my art show and a party for which I must bake desserts on the weekend before Christmas, the two-day mother and daughter cookie making blitz on the weekend of Dec. 14 and 15, and guests all this coming weekend, I had not much choice! It was this past weekend or not at all. I'm useless at night during the week; I still work full-time and have a long commute, so by the time I get home, all I want to do is cook, eat and veg!

TR - you say slacker, I say savvy cat owner. NIKcat will tear the wrapping paper off packages if allowed. So I don't wrap them until I'm off work for the holidays and able to supervise her closely.

My daughter's cats (two Bengal tabbies) do the same thing. She also can't keep cut flowers or potted plants of any kind because they tip over and shred.

lynn, NIKcat ate the flowers I brought home from my mother's funeral. Can't have any plants or flowers in the house with this one.

Also? You cant' tell in the picture, but the Christmas tree is secured with fishing line that runs from the top of the tree to a hook in the ceiling. Otherwise NIKcat would knock it over every day. She climbs it constantly.

Holy Moly, can one of you Christmas Bug people come to my house and put up my tree????

I just don't have the umph for it this year. It takes so much time, a day at least to go up, and a day at least to come down, it's ginormous, and I love it, I just don't feel like doing it all myself this year.

@ ISPIFFD. That is a seriously funny sight. Maybe NIK should try plugging her cat in!

I once had a cat that would scale up the trunk of my artificial tree and jump from the top of it into the next room. I wish I had thought to do that to her!

I might need to get on this "more than one tree" thing. I have too many ornaments to use.

These aren't great, but here's the basic tree:

Pretty, DS!! I see you use flowers on your tree, too!

I got into a mess with my tree today: I spent a couple of hours carefully draping beaded garland on the tree and ended up HATING it! So, if anyone wonders if it's possible to get TOO MUCH garland, it IS! I had to go back and ever-so-gently remove most of it.

TIKY...our tree's are almost identical!!! Is yours real?
No, it's fake. I'm allergic to real trees. I love them, but I get sick as heck with one in the house. Our OLD fake tree (as old as I am!) was awesome because it looked totally real, once it was all put together. I eventually gave up on it because I had to rig it so bad, especially at the top, to make it look right, so we got a new one a few years back.

ETA: I got frustrated with the beaded garland again and took it off. I need to get back to work on it before Waywardson realizes it and starts bitching! I'm thinking about the off white beads and maybe weaving some ribbon into the tree. I don't know, but I'll probably have ANOTHER pic of my tree later.

2nd edit: I just messed with it again, but I'm not going to take a pic, yet, because I think I'm not done.

Very pretty, TIKY! Now stop messing with it, sit back, and enjoy.

Jpapa - do I spy a tatted snowflake among your ornaments?

I've lost count of how many times I've re-decorated the thing! I'm done- barring some disaster (like the cats trashing it).

I wanted to post close ups of my "Horse tree" ornaments. My horse tree is my favorite of my trees. I think next year I will need to get a bigger tree though, because I'm getting too many ornaments.

Although I have enjoyed seeing everyone's trees... those with more than one have just left me thinking "UGH! look at all the undecorating and putting away of ornaments they have to do!"

I have scaled back my decorating for that very reason. The thought of putting it all away is daunting!
