What is your LEAST favorite Christmas song??

Mine:

Last Christmas- Wham

Do They Know It's Christmas- various

Happy XMas (War is Over)- John Lennon and Yoko Ono

The Little Drummer Boy- Bowie and Bing (actually, the ONLY version I've liked of this song has been the Pentatonix one Moo linked in the other poll. I think it's more the song than the artists because I like Bing)

Christmas.Shoes.- idk and don't care

Dominic the Donkey- Lou Monte

Santa Baby- Madonna (I like the Eartha Kitt version)

Baby It's Cold Outside- She & Him version (I like other versions of this song, but IMHO this one was terrible!)

Let's just say that if you are trying to be intimate with Christmas music on in the background, they are a mood killer .

1) Christmas Shoes
2) Santa Baby
3) Hard Candy Christmas
4) Rudolph The RedNosed Reindeer as sung by Dean Martin. I hate how in the middle of the song he suddenly gets a German accent and says "Mein Sleigh".

5) any rendition of any Christmas song by the cast of Glee.

6) Domanick the Donkey
7) Baby it's Cold Outside --that song is rapey to me.

Christmas Shoes
Last Christmas
The date rape song
Santa Baby
Dominic
Jingle Cats anything
Chipmunks anything (Tred, that's hysterical btw)
Happy Xmas (If you have to listen to it, pray it's the Celine Dion version. It makes it slightly more tolerable.)
Anything Christmas-y done by Dolly Parton (Don't judge. I'm scarred for life.)

I'm sure there's more. I'll add as I remember.

Santa Baby

^ have you head the God awful version by one of the Braxton sisters? She sounds like she's mid O throughout the entire song.
I made it 21 seconds into the song. My ears. They're bleeding.

Yeah, Christmas Shoes. I hate that freaking song. Makes me want to scream.

Do you hear what I hear? (Quasi-religious, but no theological basis for the song at all. What king did the shepherd boy tell about the baby? Because the only king in the story I remember wasn't real happy about that Baby being born.)

Any version of the Little Drummer Boy that includes rolling the R's in the pa-rum-pa-pum-pums.

Santa Baby, any version but ESPECIALLY Madonna.

Kelly Clarkson's new Christmas whatever song.

Every time it comes on the radio I feel like it's SO canned and I picture them sitting in a studio like, "Eureka!! It's a hit!!! People are going to be playing this forever!!!" Uh-noying. Gimme the chipmunks anyday.

Christmas Shoes How is that even a holiday song? Its suckage is so huge there are no words to describe its massively huge suckyness!!!!!!

Also, "Dominick the Donkey" and the "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas". Yuck!

I love "Baby its Cold Outside", though. I don't get that rapey vibe, just a guy and a girl who are dating.

I am SO particular about Christmas music, I just can't listen to it. It's me - I'm the problem. And I don't care.

I can handle a jazz instrumental or piano version of most songs (BTW - that most emphatically does NOT include Manaheim Steamroller). Most anything with singing gets on my very last nerve very quickly. Not sure what that's all about, but it's really strongly rooted for me.

Yay for the Charlie Brown Christmas CD! And yay for George Winston's "December" album.

Most of the songs mentioned here I either like or love. I have to echo Jrazz' dislike of the Kelly Clarkson release. She was hosting the Sirius XM Christmas radio station yesterday, and I had to keep turning it off.

Also, I'm not religious at all, so I tend to not favor religion-based holiday music, but I did attend parochial school for five years, so it was rather ingrained in me.

T/J: So many women complain that men refuse to stop and ask for directions. Well in this story those supposedly wise men DID stop for directions and look what happened!

And that is why men refuse to ask directions anymore. end T/J

And the John Lennon version of Happy Christmas - How can you have a happy Christmas "without any beer!" (Listen to it! I'm serious! )

OMG, abby! I think you may be on to something. When I was growing up, our neighborhood had a huge caroling party every December. Each year at a different neighbor's house. The party itself was such a blast - great food, lots of laughs, the kids always had crafts and games to keep us occupied. It was so much fun running around the basement with all the other kids. Until it was time to go caroling. I hated caroling! It was always cold, we had to sing the same damn songs over and over again, and the kids were forced up front in the pack, so we had to smile and sing or we'd get the dreaded warning hand on the backs of our necks. Neighbor Bob had giant sleigh bells that he would ring NON-STOP! Even during the songs that were serious! And no stopping until every house in the four block neighborhood had been serenaded.

Meanwhile, I was dying to get back to the warm house full of cookies and hot chocolate and build forts with my friends.

Sigh. It explains so much...

We don’t get “Christmas Shoes” playing much where I live, unless I listen to the all-Christmas Buffalo station.

Some that can make me puke are:

1) Some horrible versions of “Baby, it’s Cold Outside”. Usually, I love it and start thinking of hot chocolate and fireplaces whenever I hear it!
2) Any song that screeches or overly stylizes, no matter how good the voice. They ruin the song for me. Sing the damn notes as they were written!
3) The one where Santa visits a US soldier. It could have been done so much better, but maybe US residents think it’s patriotic.
4) “Please, Daddy, Don’t Get Drunk This Christmas”. I understand the reasoning; HATE the song.

I love the Hippo song, sing along enthusiastically to “Grandma Got Run Over”, and count the beats for “Little Drummer Boy” as I once conducted it in a school choir.

I thought about putting this one, but it seems to be meant as a "joke." (effing hilarious, that.) At least it doesn't take itself as seriously as the Christmas Shoes one.

There's another one I heard once a couple of years ago, that was from the point of view of a homeless child, wondering if Santa was going to be able to find him wherever he ended up on Christmas eve.

Oh yeah, THAT's the way to bring on the Christmas spirit. Make everybody want to hang themselves.

Oh come on! When I was in Kindergarten, we did that song in our program. I got to hold a big poster of the three French hens. "Fiiiiiiive golden riiiiiings" was my cue to get ready to hold up my poster. I was so pumped to have three French hens because it meant I got to "do" more in the song than my BFF who was at the end with 11 pipers piping.

Me too!!

When I was little, I had a friend who insisted it was a 'parridge' in a pear tree. Being a bird watcher, I was appalled that she didn't know what a partridge was On the other hand, I thought it would be more appropriate to have a cardinal in the pear tree, as partridges usually foraged on the ground...

I also can't sing 'The First Noel' without singing "Barney's the king of Iiss-rye-el"

Can't stand Chipmunks anything.
Don't like Santa Baby.
Hate 12 Days of Christmas (but the 12 Redneck days of Christmas is okay)

Don't like White Christmas (that makes me a terrible person, doesn't it?)

I really do like Dolly Parton's Candy Christmas.

I also like Jingle Bells.
But my favorite is probably Merry Christmas from the Family, Montgomery Gentry's version:

But my favorite is probably Merry Christmas from the Family, Montgomery Gentry's version:

I love that song, too. But I prefer the Robert Earl Keene version.

Pretty much all of them, except the ones I listed in the fave song thread.

So traumatizing.

Rudolph
Frosty
Winter Wonderland
Let It Snow
We Wish You a Merry Christmas

...and that's the point at which I found my back up pair of ear plugs (that only works on one side) and was able to drown out the rest with Pandora.

I hate

"Grandma got runover by a reindeer" (really? that sounds traumatizing to a child to hear)
"I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus" for obvious reasons that allow me to be on this site in the first place
"Ave Maria" because the high pitched part makes my skull crack open... maybe when I'm older I won't hear that part...

ETA: oh and whoever said that Paul McCartney song. Now it's stuck in my head as an earworm. "Simply having a WONDERFUL Christmas time" over and over and over and over again!

(((NIK)))

I'm sorry you were just serenaded!

"I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus" for obvious reasons that allow me to be on this site in the first place

Wait... I always understood this to be a song from a child's point of view about seeing mommy kissing Santa, who was actually, unbeknownst to the kid, the kid's own dad dressed as Santa. Have I misunderstood this song all these years?!

Well NIK in my personal case if I saw mommy kissing Santa it most likely WASN'T dad! I put my own twisted childhood in that song. Sorry.

I'm not NIK (who's awesome, btw!) but I'm sorry you experienced a twisted childhood. I did as well and it's difficult to deal with.

I order of most despised to least.

1. The twelve days...This wins hands down. I don't know if you have kids in band or choir but this mother fucker never ends, and some genius always decides it would be fun to do it last, great we survived another kids' concert, oh wait, we have a 40 minute song coming up......

2. The little drummer boy, because well it's just damn annoying.

3. Christmas songs that are done by chipmunks, and has been pop stars to make a buck. I just cant'.

Lastly any Christmas music before Thanksgiving. This is just disrespectfulto the Turkey and the sacrifices it makes.
