User Topic: When does your work year end?

12/23 - 1/1 are holidays for us. I'm using some remaining vacation days to take off the week of the 16th, so that means I'll be away for over 2 1/2 weeks

When are you done for the year? Or if you are working through the holidays, are there any bright spots you're looking forward to?

12/20 - 1/6

I love having the same schedule as the kids .

Mr Unfound will be working Christmas this year, so that sucks.

I'm an accountant. Part of my job is payroll.

My company gives extended time off during the week between Christmas and New Years, but I'll be there working.

I won't get any time off until mid march.

I booked off starting this Friday and don't have daycare again until the first week of January. All of the parents of the kids I watch have vacation over Christmas that they take too. So I am off for 17 days starting on the 13th

I work in a hospital so there are no holidays-no closings or shortened hours

I've often wondered what that would be like

Well I work up to a half day Dec 24, then off until Dec 30 and 31. I don't usually take a lot of time off. Things are pretty relaxed around here during christmas anyway, it is pretty social so I like it. Plus I am almost out of vacation and our new year isn't until March 30....sooo I am hording my days off

Oh, shut up!

Not only do I not get any vacation time, but I have to work until 12:30am on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, and also have to travel into the lab on Christmas Day and New Year's Day to retrieve specimens from the incubator.

Ho ho no.

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

Our year doesn't end - it's just more of the same.

So this year we do not get Christmas Eve off as a holiday. Instead for some reason the holidays are Christmas Day and Dec 26th. None of us are sure why.

So I put my vacation plans on our group calendar. I will work from home half a day on Christmas Eve then I will be out of the office on holiday or vacation through January 3.

After that it's anyone's guess as to how much longer I have. (As long as I don't get blindsided between now and then).

Well I am not sure how to answer this... since I am essential a 10-month employee and my work year runs Aug - May.

My holiday break is from 12/20 - 1/5. With Teacher work days on 12/20 and 1/6. Which is essential like not working since the kids aren't here!

I'm off the same days as unfound. I get off work Friday, 12/20, at 3:30 and don't have to go back until 7:00 a.m. on 1/6. Use 6 days vacation, get 16 days off. I *love* having that extra week to play around with. (I get four weeks anyway plus I carried over a week). A reall good part is when I get back, I'll still have almost 3 weeks left. (My "year" starts mid-July, BTW)

Prior to my retirement I used to dread the end of the year. I would have to ensure that all out our books were in balance and clean up the mess that was caused during the year. Any P&L adjustments affected my bonus pool so it had to be done as accurate as possible. Working late into the night on Xmas and New Years eve was very normal for me. It used to drive my XWW crazy as we could never make plans. And I got a lot of shit because of it. But she sure did enjoy spending that check when it came in the next year.

I don't get any days off at any time. I'm in law enforcement and I work pretty much when I'm told to work.

I don't mind working on holidays, though. It's fairly quiet and I get paid double time and a half. That's enough of a Christmas present for me.
