My kids had off today because of the weather. I had to drop them at Rotting Acres because XWH and CommandOwife are stay-at-home-do-nothings (oh, pardon me-- they "work from home," which, to XWH, meant fudge his hours and work about half of what he was expected to do, so I'm sure that CommandOwife's work ethic is just as shoddy). Anyway, I go to pick them up after work, and there they all are in the front yard...

having a big, family snowball fight. Seriously? SERIOUSLY?

I laughed as I pulled into the driveway. That was just about the most staged little piece of Norman Rockwell nostalgia I have ever seen. Oh, I'm sure that XWH has completely changed his character and is now delighted to be in the center of family life; CommandOwife's love clearly had a profound influence over him, and that's why he's a changed man.

How precious. And afterwards, I'm sure they retired inside with her kids for homemade hot cocoa, and XWH kissed CommandOwife under the mistletoe.

CommandOwife...

Staged. All for your benefit. How do you stand being so much the focus of all that staging?? A production like that requires a lot of energy and thought. I imagine they were quite snarky and grumpy when the went in cold, with wet clothes, and tracked mud and snow on the floors... But that is just me imagining REALITY.

Ah yes, I have been the recipient of a couple 'staged' events.

Must be their version of 'fake it till you make it.'

Blech!!!!

You have so much restraint. I would have picked up the biggest ice ball I could find and whipped it straight at his nuts.

They are total phonies.

Totally staged!

Isn't it amazing how they turn into the perfect 'family man'?? My ex was your typical Christmas grinch, had no Christmas 'spirit' whatsoever. This year? All different - putting on a massive show for OW.

Laughable really :)

How long is he really going to be able to keep this dog and pony show up?

Definitely staged.

After a year has passed and he's got through every single holiday including his first wedding anniversary. The mask will slip off a few times in between now and then, but his true colors will no doubt be shining through after his 1st wedding anniversary.

What a compliment!

Sooo much effort put into that private performance just for you! They are either very concerned about your opinion or still very threatened by you.

Either way, how nice to be so important.

"Rotting Acres"..... snort

You. Are. Awesome.

Snort!

No amount of window dressing masks the stench.

I am so grateful for this board. A year ago, my heart would have been racing. I would have felt enraged, maybe while also fighting back tears. I probably would have been thinking about how CommandOwife stole my life and was doing what I should have been doing with my kids.

But instead, a year later, because of the wisdom and hilarious commentary I have benefited from on here, I laughed. I saw it for what it was. I haven't achieved complete indifference-- how can I when I have to worry about my daughter's undergarments and whether or not I'm abusing our planet with my Ziploc wastefulness? There will certainly be days when I'm back here feeling enraged... but it's so nice not to feel as though my every day is dictated by anger and pain.

I'm relieved to be living an honest life with people I care about. I'm so glad that I'm not in a relationship where I feel like I have to put on a show to prove that our relationship is great, or even worse, wonder when my lying, cheating spouse is going to do the same thing to me.

Yeah, she's got him by the snowballs, and she can have him!

But can you imagine what's going on in their heads?

Mr. Ashley Madison: (Looks at clock, knows you'll be there soon. Must set the stage.)
Come on kids! Let's go outside and have a snowball fight! Yay!

Mrs. Ashley Madison: (Trying will be here soon. Yes! I got her man! I got her life! I'll show her!) Yes! It will be so much fun!
