Anyone else have a perpetual cluttering/borderline hoarding issue? How are y'all doing this holiday season?

What are your goals? Challenges? Triumphs?

My three grown children say I am a "hoarder" and one even threatened (laughingly) to call that TV show and have them come out to "help" me.

My house is clean but slightly cluttered because I don't have enough space for everything. (Is that an excuse? ) I bought 7 large plastic tubs with lids and am currently putting some of the stuff in them and will store them in the attic. I may also drop off some of it at a local charity store, if I can decide what to part with. That's my main problem.

What are you doing about yours?

I don't think we fall into the "hoarder" category, but there is definitely an buildup of clutter in my home.

I finally had enough a couple of weeks ago and started reorganizing closets/shelves and just chucking stuff.
I am an admitted container "addict" and will keep all kind of bottles, jars, baskets, and plastic tubs "just in case" I need it for "something". (Insert eye roll).
I've taken a hard line with myself and actually purged everything that isn't an actual Rubbermaid or Tupperware storage container. Progress!

I moved into this house about 16 months ago and I still have two areas to cover that are complete clutter - my office and the garage.

I'm not a hoarder but I'm not the best at reducing clutter. I will say that XWH was my hero in that area. So now I have to do it on my own, and it's a struggle.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Here is a great blog to follow and some ideas to get you started. I've been emptying out my house since my divorce and after my oldest moved out. It's just me and my grown daughter now and and I have been working like crazy to donate and throw out almost everything I'm not using.

My attic and crawlspace are empty after living here 25 years. I'm kind of addicted to decluttering and throwing things away now.

Anyone got strategies for what they're doing on Christmas Day? For some reason, the clutter always gets worse for us after that day. Wrapping paper everywhere, some new gifts with no homes… Anyone else having trouble with throwing away wrapping paper and wanting to reuse it? When I was a kid I wrapped gifts in the funnies section of newspapers - fun to read, easy to recycle afterwards. Thinking of starting that again…

ETA: Whoops. Deleted original. Ah well.

My office and garage too...

I found FlyLady and she's helping me declutter. Paper clutter is the worst!
