Credit card info could be in jeopardy if you shopped there between Black Friday & 12/15/2013.

If you did - as we did - You should put a fraud alert on your credit report:

I heard that the online purchases were OK. It was the store purchases that are a problem.

I work in the fraud dept for debit/ credit card and we got sooo slammed!! These last couple of months have been hard for my company. The place I work for is one of those behind the scenes businesses that services financial institutions. Basically if you do any banking you utilize one of our products.

In November we had a huge snafu with electronic checks, of which we're still recovering from. Now there is this Target compromise, which for us was no shock. For months we have been seeing massive amounts of fraud coming from Target. The fact that Target fessed up to it is surprising; most merchants do not admit where the compromise is.

Tonight at work was miserable, and it is suppose to go into the weekend. As a friend of mine and I were leaving he got a call from HIS bank concerning the compromise.

I don't ever shop at Target, so I am lucky. XD

But bear in mind, everybody, to carefully watch all of your accounts, especially if you are a debit card user and it is your only card. Fraud is very highly developed, and everyone is at risk for a compromise in this day and age.

I'm hearing a lot of conflicting reports, some of them really frightening; some people are saying that their debit cards might be affected to the point where their PIN numbers were stolen - which means that the thieves could theoretically access all of their cash through ATMs.

This is why credit is SO much safer - because you have recourse if something like this happens. With a debit card, it takes FOREVER (and I mean forever) to get your money back - if you ever do.

Discover and AMEX are the absolute best when it comes to stopping fraud. Someone attempted to use my card back in March for a large purchase, and within four HOURS, Discover canceled my card number AND contacted me. You can't get better than that.

I made two purchases at Target during the dates, but I have a "RedCard" (the store branded card) and only tend to use that, so I was REALLY lucky. I used my debit card only TWO DAYS before the window of time - gah, if I'd just been 48 hours later, I would have been caught in that.

So far, so good, but I'm keeping an eye out anyway.

I'm sorry for everyone caught in this mess. It sure puts a damper on the holidays for a lot of people.

I heard this morning that PIN's were not compromised... not sure how they know that?

I put fraud alerts on my credit reports just to be safe... or safer anyways.
