So here's nthe deal.........

Recently two of the message boards i visit basically terminated my accounts thru proxy. Why do i say thru proxy? My accounts were dismissed for the simplest of reasons. I DON"T DO OR HAVE FACEBOOK.

I never wanted it and still don't want it. The assumption here is that i will go and create a facebook account just for the right to post my opinion on a news article.

Here's the really stupid thing. I have been paying my ISP for a long time. My ISP acquired one of the places i post to from time to time. They alrady have all my information as to whom i am.....and yet i can no longe post there unless i make a facebook page. Am i missing something here?

Isn't that the weirdest? I keep hoping that the next new thing will come along and obliterate FB just so that companies will stop hitching their wagon to social media.

I agree Jrazz! I never took to facebook because in just never saw the appeal of it. I also never saw the appeal of twitter, skype, or instagram.

Now i cannot post to a news article in discussion because i don't facebook? I was recently going purchase a used car for my kid from a dealer. The dealer told me i would be eligible to enter a contest offered by the dealer through another company. That was until they said i had to link to the contest through facbook. I told them i had no facebook account, they told me i couldn't enter any othe way. I left the contest and dealership...without the car purchase.

I did purchase the kid a car a few days later. I also signed up to participate in a contest they were having. No Facebook involved. Just a signature, entry card and number. I don't even have to be there for the drawing.

I have fb but have no interest in linking it to everything. Considering making a fake Facebook for my cats or something so I can sign up for stupid discounts and sites that require you to abandon any semblance of privacy.

Crescita

I have actually taken to writing directly to companies denouncing their predjudice against people that don't facebook. Some have offered alternatives and sent coupons.

Creating a fake account is a violation of FB policy, I believe. I guess they require you to be a real person who'll potentially buy the crap they promise to sell to you.

Some of my apps are like that. If I want to use them, I have to activate through social media. I don't do Facebook, MySpace (if it's still around ?) Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter or any other social media. I have email. That's it.

That seems to be the going trend lately but i don't agree with it. They can stick those algorythms up their socially hypnotized butts.

While I don't mean to advocate going against fb's rules, I can tell you first-hand they won't bounce any fake profiles even if there's blatant proof they're fake.

So my point actually is that a lot of people who like getting the special deals, discounts and coupons often offered on fb if you like a company's page or whatever, end up creating one extra account just for that purpose. It gets around the idea that each company has access to all your personal info each time you like their page for a coupon or contest. Just my two cents

edited because my proofreading abilities have gone down the loo...

I can relate!! I have no Facebook. People love to give me a hard time and sometimes I won't hear about a party since the invites were on Facebook
