Angry  Posted: 4:29 AM, January 23rd (Thursday)

I had a notification on my phone that I had a message on FB. After a while, I checked to see what it was.

It was a message from xpos, asking if the request for him to be my 'friend' was real or FB bull***t.

My first thought was to send a reply asking in what universe he thought I would want a lying, cheating, controlling, negative, angry, road raged, PA, PD, borderline NPD, SA, "back of the (DSM) book", pos who tried to kill me and DD for a "friend" even in cyberspace?

(Everything after PD was said of him by my IC in the last few months I saw her.)

What I actually did? Blocked him on FB....... again! I think FB took that away in one of their 'upgrades' too! I wonder if he will get the idea or if he needs it spelled out?

Arggh. I'm sorry you had to deal w/that drek.

FB can really suck sometimes. It kept telling me to be friends w/my XH. Blocked his lame ass & it hasn't come up since. But, I think he blocked me too, so that might be why.

I've never heard of FB doing this. I've been using it daily for over 6 years.

Have you been looking at his page at all? Especially on your phone you could be trying to click on something and send the friend request instead. That has happened to me.

I've also heart of people creating fake profiles of real people and friending their friend.s Do you have the friend request on your FB? There's a place where you can see your requests.

I may have reached a point where I'd piss on him if he was on fire.... eventually!!

I've also had several very strange friend requests that I doubt would ask me to be their friend. Quite a few from xpos' family, of all thing, and all after DDay and the D. I'm still getting them. In all, I have more than a dozen requests I haven't responded to because of reasons like that. Some people just friend everyone they've ever heard of just to say they have a lot of friends and post every hangnail and every pimple.

I'm on it infrequently. It's always showing me lists of people, asking if I know them. I don't go there. Xpos and I have many friends in common. We have more in common than anyone else on it. I know I never sent a request to him, even mistakenly. I don't look at his page at all.

I get the most random notifications from there. Very strange. When I got that one and went there, there were several others that I hadn't gotten a notification about.

Call me stupid, but why would you believe anything your ex says?

Maybe he was trying to get a reaction from you.

He may have started a new page and that is why he was no longer blocked. If he was blocked you wouldn't have been able to send him a request even accidently as they no longer appear on FB, it's as if they deleted their account. They would also not be able to message you unless they had created a new account. You also can't even see their comments even on mutual friends pages if they are blocked. I have the ex and his clan blocked.

I've had my fair share of 'weirdos' trying to friend request me or send me messages telling me I'm their perfect match written in very poor English

I would check your requests as SBB said, if there is a request there cancel it and then maybe contact FB and ask why this is occurring?

I've never heard of it either, and I too use FB allll the time. What I have heard is blocks sometimes not "sticking" or having to be reapplied when changes are rolled out. That's a coding error, not FB trying to fuck with you.

My guess? He got a friend suggestion for you and is too tech-illiterate to understand the difference.

I also have never heard of that happening. My first thought is if it truly was a friend request is that someone got your password. So it might be time to change the password. The second thought was like another person suggested that he isn't reading it right and it was merely a friend suggestion.

I think Amazonia is right. I get Friend SUGGESTIONS from FB all the time, he probably mistook it for a request.

I heard Linkendin and maybe even FB also makes an occasional scan of your email address book and can sometimes send those requests to people in your address book that it recognizes as having an account. There might be s setting on your account that needs to be changed.

A few days ago one of my cousins dad had been added as a friend. Neither one of us sent a request.

You can see on your activity log when you sent or accepted friend requests. I can't help but wonder about accidental adds on phones or devices, or people mistaking the suggestions for requests and then sending a request themselves when they think they're responding to one.

Never seen FB do this. I does make friend suggestions from your extended network, and new ones appear with each new connection you make, but you would have to click on friend request for anything to happen. I did once to WXW - back when I was still stalking her on FB and I accidentally clicked on friend request - withdrew it immediately!!

FB is a nightmare. Voting with my feet on social networks now....

ETA I read something today about FB' usage declining - mibbe they're finding new ways to keep it lively?

This is interesting timing because just this week I received two friend requests from two people I knew (independent of each other) a LONG time ago that are VERY unlikely to friend request me. I have one mutual friend with one and four mutual friends with the other.

I was wondering if something odd was going on with FB, and it was becoming more like Linked In, where it makes it difficult NOT to send link requests.
