User Topic: What do you like about yourself?

So, after a revelation about my mom in IC last week and looking through my husband's search history during the As (ugh), I've been struggling a little (okay, a lot) this week with self-esteem and recognizing my inner worth.

After reading multiple threads, it appears that many others are struggling in this area as well.

I thought maybe posting a sentence or two about our strengths or what we DO like about ourselves would help us get back on the right mental track? Or at least, not hurt?

I'll start.

I like my persistence. When I put my mind to something, I don't give up easily.

I like also that I try to think of others and practice empathy, even when I am struggling.

What do YOU like about yourself?

I trust myself. I'm not afraid to stand up for myself and I don't back down from threats, etc. If anything they make my stance stronger.

I'm goofy. It's fun.

I am trustworthy.
My children know I love them.
I am an excellent cook and can grocery shop on a shoestring budget (when necessary).

I have a good sense of humor. My children know they are loved by me. I, too, can shop on a shoestring budget. I can be very focused when I want to be.

I overcame huge hurdles and traumas as a child with no help from anyone. I put myself through college while living in a severely dysfunctional home in 3.5 years and got a teaching job and an apt in the same day. I was a respected, loved, dedicated teacher for 37 years and an awesome mother, often on my own, to two great sons. I'm smart, witty, a good friend, listener, loyal and loving.

Thanks for this thread!

I'm fucking adorable.

Oh, you want the real list?

I'm really quite good at my job, when I am really focused and not dicking off online. Uhhh...

I have a good sense of style and I have really good taste.

I'm quite funny, if slightly off-center humor is your cuppa.

I can hold my liquor.

I care incredibly deeply about the causes I work for.

I can be terribly mean and shallow sometimes, but it's part of my charm (and I need it to balance out the last one).
