Called me to give update about his ailing mother. Convo then meandered to being about his imminent move back to my state. He is being delayed because of weather and his mother's health. Went on to talk about not knowing where he is going to go when he gets here. Yep, still fishing for an offer from me to bunk down in my spare bedroom. My response: chirp, chirp! Crickets! I think I spoke about 10 words in the 30 minute convo! He rambled on about how much his life sucks, he has worn out his welcome with his mother and his friends, can't find a job, has no money, and for those that remember the saga, he still thinks he is dying. I might feel sorry for him if I actually cared, but I don't. Can you spell "consequences," asshole? I just find myself yawning with the tedium of his calls.

I don't know how you keep sitting through these conversations with your ex.
I can get through 5-10 minutes on the phone with my XWH, but only if he stays on topic (kids' college/visitation schedule). On the few occassions he started wandering off into his own little melodrama with his current flavor of the week, I hung up on him.
He got the message soon enough.

I ignore 99.9% of his calls, and only answer when it is convenient for me. It is kinda like listening to a telemarketing call ramble on... doesn't bother me in the slightest
