I found a second-hand appliance store in my area, and actually went there today. Shopping for a washer and dryer shot my nerves. I've never had to make a major appliance decision. Went straight from college and the laundromat to marriage where even when we needed new stuff, STBXWH made all the decisions. The last time our appliances crapped out, and I finally admitted that we would need something new to him (5 or 6 years ago) he had a brand new set bought and installed less than 12 hours later. I didn't even get to look at options.

Anyway, I was just wondering if it was normal to feel this scared about stupid appliances? Anyone else have this issue?

Anything new can be scary. Its takes time getting used to making all the decisions. But at least they are YOUR decisions, not some other. With each new task you perform you get stronger and more confident. Don't worry you're on your way.

I agree with Stronger.
XWH used to handle all the finances even though I worked full time as well. We were always broke.

When we split up, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make ends meet, didn't know the timing on which bills were due when, etc.
I sat down, put everything into a spreadhseet and budgeted out the next couple of months.
Imagine my surpise when I not only got bills paid on time (or early) but also had money left over!

It does get easier with practice.

^^^^lol. Yeah, didn't think of all the recent BOB discussions when I typed that in the subject.

Thanks for the support, everyone.
