STBXH and I are in the process of determing custody and visitation schedules. What is a fair, but firm parenting plan during Spring Break-- we are both in town and not going on vacations.

I work part time and work is very flexible with my schedule.

STBXH sister is in town next week and MIL is off work, so obvisously they want to spend time with DD6.

What is your normal custody arrangement? Using myself, I have 50/50 custody. We alternate weeks and weeks go from Friday to Friday. The parent that has the child during the spring break, winter break, or holidays has them. If the parent that doesn't have them wants time we have to ask. This has worked out well so far for us. I dont' like my stbxww very much be we DO communicate well when it comes to the kids.

STBXWW has the kids next week for spring break. She is asking my parents to keep them because she has to work. I plan on taking a few days off to spend with them but I plan on letting her know what days since it is her week.

We do not have a custody arrangement yet-- we are starting the process with attorneys next week to determine an agreement.

Currently I am just documenting how much time STBXH spends with DD6.

Just because you are not going anywhere this year for spring break, does not mean you won't want to in the future.

I suggest doing the odd/even year split if your STBX is involved with your DD more than the typical OEW. If in your year or his a vacation is not planned, you can always negotiate time outside the parenting plan and split the week or work out arrangements like 7yrs. But as your DD ages, you may consider a trip/vacation and your STBX may not be accommodating (because family is coming to town or he made plans, etc). The parenting plan resolves these types of conflicts.

We alternate Spring Break as well as the other major holidays (odd/even years).
