So from time to time we've done this and it was brought up in the Welcome to F&G thread over a week ago.

So let do a little anonymous sharing.

So let's start off with just a couple questions to get things going.

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?

I'm more of a lurker, but here's my answers.

1. The first time I remember wanting to be something was when I was 4 and I wanted to be a librarian. I obviously had no idea what they did. I just wanted to stamp the books and made my own at home.

2. Ethan Hawke

3. Not really odd, but I like putting chips on them.

4. Nope, but only because I'm shy.

5. Ziplining!

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life? "Met" would be Clint Eastwood. Never spoke to him, but he stayed at my aunt's house when he was performing at a local theater. We lined the walk as he was leaving her house and just stared--basically, made him walk the gautlet

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
A writer

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?
DS and MH are probably the most famous people I've met. Seriously though.
(okay, I actually went to school with a fairly well known politician, but I'm not going to mention names here for numerous reasons.)

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.
Potato chips

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?
I would just come in a Doctor Who costume - she wouldn't turn me away

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?
I stumped on this one! I can't think of anything I really want to try that I haven't already, or don't have plans for. I mean, I've got four continents under my belt with a fifth planned; I'm living overseas in my dream career; I did the whole marriage thing and am kind of over it; I've eaten more weird and delicious things than I can count; I take good care of myself and try new things frequently; I really am blessed, and so blissfully content these days.

I might have to cheat and peek at other people's answers before I answer this one.

ETA: I got one! Zumba! I want to try zumba!

1. I wanted to be an art dealer to the most famous museums.

2. This is pretty obscure but Billy Barty and Corky Pugo (Freddy on Silver Spoons for us 80's kids). I also hung out with Kevin Costner at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. And by hang out I mean he was like at least 20 feet away from me the whole time.

3. French fries. They make everything better.

4. Now I've never met NIK, but I'm guessing it would be a party I wouldn't want to miss!

5. HT and I have this pipe dream of opening up a sandwich shop. He would make the sandwiches and I would do the baked goodies. We have a name for it and everything!

1) I wanted to be an artist

2) I met a bunch of hockey players at signings in high school. Jeremy Roenick and Shane Doan are probably the most celebrity status among them.

3) Not so odd apparently, but Fritos.

4) YES! I'd bring wine, and chocolate, and cheeses, and maybe more wine.

5) I recently read about a couple in retirement who downsized their possessions to a couple of suitcases. They travel around the world renting furnished apartments for 1-3 months at a time. Dream life!

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a lawyer because that's what Nancy Drew's father was.

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?

Sterling Sharpe (NFL player and ESPN Sportscaster. We were in college at the same time and I rode an elevator with him). The Newsboys. Members of Building 429 (my FAVORITE Christian group). Natalie Grant (Another favorite singer) Mark Curry. (Rode an elevator with him in Vegas) Heisman trophy winner George Rogers. And the guy who really sang all of the Milli Vanilli songs.

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.

potato chips

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?

Heck yeah!

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?

Hmmm... I'm not really all that much for trying new stuff.

1. A trapeze artist or a writer for The National Enquirer

2. Spicy Mustard

3. In high school, I was on a crowded elevator. Stone Philips got on with his entourage, set off the elevator's overweight alarm, and then they made other people get off even though they were the last one's on! And that, friends, is my best celebrity story.

4. Will there be alcohol involved?

5. Skydiving

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?

Jeff Foxworthy

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.

I only put tasty stuff on my sandwiches, therefore nothing is odd.

Right?!

I was only 15 at the time (so 18 years ago...geez), so the only reason I even knew who he was was because he had just given a speech (we were at a journalism convention). But ever since then I've thought he was a douche. He could save 29 kittens from a burning building and I would still say, "Yeah, but he kicked people off the elevator that one time. So he's still a douche."

5. Trying something new? Coast to coast road trip on a motorcycle with my H.

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

A pilot. I became an aeronautical engineer and did get my private pilot’s license….so sort of got there!

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?

Worked at a dinner theater as a teenager (35 years ago)…so “met” a number of 40’s/50’s/60’s celebs: Mickey Rooney, Jim Hutton, Doug McClure, Ann Miller, Bob Cummings, Tom Poston, Caesar Romero, Van Johnson….yeah I know. Look ‘em up.

And in college…went to lecture by Jim Lovell (Apollo 13 Commander). Stood 3 feet from him after the speech as he mingled and looked him in the eye and couldn’t screw together the courage to shake his hand (one of my greatest regrets).

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.

Peanut butter and pickle. Peanut butter and cheese. Peanut butter and banana. See a trend?

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?

Of course!

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?

Not surprisingly…something to do with aircraft. I worked on the V-22 program for the first 15 years of my career. Was on it before the first piece of metal was cut when it was still a “paper” airplane (drawings) and was there to see its first flight and many other milestones. Never got to fly on it. I would LOVE to do that!!

I wanted to be a doctor. I had a little doctors kit and would make fake bills up.

Barbara Mandrel was very nice. Her son attended Ridiculously Religious University with me and she would come give a yearly free concert. One time I was sitting in chapel bitching about why can't we have a alum with a rock and roll family member come play. And THAT'S when I realized she was sitting right behind me. She was very gracious despite my footus in mouthus disease.

I'm guessing that "made his day"???

TheRealDeal,
Are you still high from that visit?
I think if I met Willie Nelson, I'd have a contact high for the rest of my life.

He was just as you'd expect, laid back and very nice, just an "everyday" person with no airs about him. Heck, he was staying at the same hotel that our family of 5 could afford back then...and that wasn't much.

My sisters and I were thrilled and just thought it was the coolest thing EVER to meet him. hmmmm, now I need to find the pics we took...

And for everyone who listed skydiving as something new they'd try...oh my goodness you should. it was AWESOME. I jumped with my younger sister in CA for my 40th..first time for her too. When my pop turned 70 that's what he wanted to do...so me, both my sisters and Pop jumped down in FL. I thought my stomach would feel like it does on a roller coaster, but nope, nothing like that. My sisters and Pop loved it too. The adrenaline surge afterwards - that "high" feeling - is like nothing else I have ever experienced.

It's a totally different "high" than the type you'd get with Willie Nelson

end t/j

1. Teacher. I got confused for a while and changed my mind to lawyer/politician, but the recurring dreams of myself in a dark apartment lined floor to ceiling with books studying cases until the wee hours of the morning with only my cats for company cured me of that.

I had a coworker who was a skydiver and he Roman candled on a jump then his parachute partially opened at 200' and that saved his life. But he broke his back, pelvis and just about every bone in his body below the waist.

Just saying.

I had a coworker who was a skydiver and he Roman candled on a jump then his parachute partially opened at 200' and that saved his life. But he broke his back, pelvis and just about every bone in his body below the waist.
Just saying.

You know this was on my bucket list for a long time, then I thought, wait, best case scenario I like it and want to go again

I did skydiving twice. Just so I could say I did it more than Once. That's the troof.

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
A science.

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?

Jimmy Buffet, Vince Neal, Paul Krugman (I drove him around as a chauffeur), John Fahey (I tuned his guitar for him - ha asked me to!) Adrian Legg...but most of all-I think you need to expand this Moo. To people who are genius amazing, say, "important big people", like Bucky Fuller (what? never heard of him? o my!), Gene Youngblood, Ian McHarg....so many, my mind boggles at genius I've been blessed to rub shoulders with.
3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.

Me, I, my mind does not comprehend this question. So my answer is "sandwich". - or - Are you going to L.A?, or by bus?
4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?

Only if the ornaments invite me, then yes, and I'd bring the glasses for what lies is bringing.
5. If you could try something new, what would you try?
To make sense.
Or spraypaint.
Or dance.

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

Either a professional athlete (basketball, football, and baseball in that order) a rock star, or Richard Dawson (apparently I put on my mini-suit at a very early age and impersonated him).

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?

Turns out I've met a few, but the one who had the most impact at the time was Hakeem Olajuwon

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.

Trying to put on my Richard Dawson hat and give an answer not too crazy that people don't realize many other people do...fried egg

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?

Hellz Yeah!! Wait, why the question? Now I'm scared...

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?

Writing a novel, skydiving, or writing a novel based around skydiving.

NIK, I'm so excited that someone besides me even knew who I was talking about! I live in a somewhat isolated area and 'celebrity' usually means a local performer or politician. Somehow, we managed to get funding for them come and do a concert with us in January '08. I was pregnant with my first child and actually missed the dress rehearsal because I was sick. They were a blast to perform with though.

1. A psychiatrist; this was strongly discouraged by my (nutso) parents
2. I made lunch for Robert Redford when I was 17; he was lovely. Grew up in the same town as Vince Vaughn; I'm older, but he hung around the periphery of our parties and such. Shared an orthopedist with Walter Payton and was in PT with him and many other Bears. (And yes, he lived up to the name Sweetness. But he was a baby when big needles were involved.) Lived up the road from Mr. T. Had lots of other weird encounters (like, sold pantyhose to the actor who played Howard on Bob Newhart--which were not, incidentally, in *his* size), which is surprising for small town Illinois. Oh, and worked in the same building and often rode the elevator with Oprah before she had Harpo Studios.
3. Potato chips, on the sandwich
4. Of course
5. Write the novels in my head. Then go to culinary school.

I had to go back 400 times because I could not manage to remember 5 questions. Senility.

Fortunately for me there was only a knife and fork involved.
Met a lot of celebs between my radio and restaurant careers but Sweetness surprised me because I idolized him so much. I would have said Roger Staubach for the same reasons, but I was an Eagles fan

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was little, a princess. (Don’t all little girls want that?)
When I was about 11/12, a physiotherapist. But my Dad was very influential and said I would be doing my training at [famous London teaching hospital] and that put me off. So I did teacher training instead.
I think I would have made a good carpenter or builder.

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?
No one. I’m not very observant! Lots of people from TV come to my pretty little tourist town, but I’m not a big TV person, so when people say “did you see so-and-so?” I tend to say “who?” We have a lot of films made here as there are a couple of famous historic houses used as locations. I saw the BBC filming a couple of weeks ago. ITV was down by the river last week, but it was the early morning programme and I couldn’t be doing with getting up at 6am.
The Royal family used to come here a lot as they were friends with one of the Dukes. They came separately to the official funeral. But all I saw was a big car sweeping past with the flag on the bonnet (and escort riders).

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.
If there was something odd on my sandwich, it got there by mistake.

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?
In cognito

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?

Skiing/snow boarding. But not in winter.

I've met him, too. Nice guy. He has a tea shop locally (well, my old stomping grounds; I'm slumming it now), and is a surprisingly good baseball announcer when my fav radio station (WXRT, not that it matters) gives him the mic.

Don't remember who I met him through--we have a mutual friend. I'd marry him too, I think.

So let's start off with just a couple questions to get things going.

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

A nurse or a Vet, Mom said I was too dumb to be a vet...So I chose Nurse.

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?

Ted Nugent, Ozzie Smith, Lou Brock, All the members of Bad Company

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.

Jalapenos

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?

Oh heck yah!

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?

Packing it all up, and moving somewhere warmer, on a great fishing lake, opening up a smallish lodge/cabins type place, offering guide services for fishing and hunting, and of course selling our Honey, and Bee Wares, and doing all this instead of having a real job.

Cash is one of my all time favorites

My first Step FIL was a very tall man with really deep voice. Once when he was in Vegas he looked up and standing right there was someone he recognized. Looked him right in the eye and said:

FIL: "You're Johnny Cash."
JC: "Yes I am."
FIL: Well I'm FIL, Glad to meet you!"
They shook hands and left.

Welcome QuietNoMore

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?
Um. Who is NIK?

NIK is our beloved SI Guide, NowIKnow23. She used to tell us youngin's to get off her lawn, so of course that is why we need to go and have a lawn party there.

Wow I can just imagine all the tropical corn species you saw.

QS and I died.

1. Never had a specific thing I wanted to be.

2. Met Hank Williams Jr. and saw Amy Grant & Vince Gill in a camera shop. QS recently met Johnny Reid, Cal Turner Jr, and Glen Campbell. Also bumped into ZZ Top in the airport. QS leads a much more glamorous life than me.

3. Bacon, duh.

4. Heck yes.

5. Tour Egypt and India.

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

Professional football player.

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?

I "met" Emmit Smith on a football field. I credit him for showing me that I needed a new career ambition.

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.

Nothing! Pretty standard sandwich fare for me.

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?

Sure, why not.

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?

Piloting an airplane. Maybe I'll get around to those lessons some day.

Late to the party (as usual)...

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
A greeting card writer for Hallmark

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?
Keith Richards. Only I didn't recognize him as being anything other than a leathery old drunk when he bought me a drink at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.

ETA - DUH! How could I forget! Met Dave Grohl last summer at The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in D.C. What a nice guy, with an equally nice wife and two little girls!

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.
Honey? (I really don't do sandwiches, but peanut butter and honey was a childhood favorite)

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?
Well... as stated earlier, I'd be late. And I might just stand on the street so as not to disturb the lawn

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?
Huh. I guess an SI get together (at NIK's perhaps)

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

A nun, but not just any nun. I wanted to be a Saint, and I was willing to be martyred to become a Saint. Or, I wanted to be a defense lawyer.

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?

George Clooney.

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.

When I used to eat sandwiches, baked beans with mayo.

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?

Most definitely. I will wear soccer shoes so I make sure I get good traction on her lawn, too.

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?

To be a politician. I have all the answers, no one listens!!!!

He was sitting in the sports book bar at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. It was during the filming of "Oceans Eleven". It was just him and two other guys at the bar. My daughter and her best friend and I were sitting at a table. We were the only other people there.

We just sat there enjoying our cocktails and gazing at him. The cocktail waitress was sticking her tits out so far we thought her back was going to snap!

Anyways, we were done with our drinks and had other things we wanted to do besides gaze at the beautiful Mr. Clooney (he truly looks the same in person as in movies, lovely ). The girls had been trying to talk me into talking to him. As we were leaving I walked up to him and said "hello" and asked for his autograph. He smiled and said "ok" who should he make it out to and I said "Milkshake and The Whitney's" and he looked at me puzzled. I explained that my DD and her BF both had the same first name so we just called them "The Whitney's" and he said "Heh, heh, thats funny!" He was lovely and gracious. Oh, it took every ounce of strength to not jump up and down whilst speaking to him. It was the strangest sensation! I have never had that reaction speaking to anyone, evah!

eta: Ya know, I might have that sensation of wanting to jump up and down if I ever get to meet DS and MH IRL.

A certain salon in Orlando remembers him!😊

And I'm sure another salon in Houston will remember him.

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

I guess mostly a wife and mom. I had ideas of being a teacher from time to time. (I did eventually become a teacher but got married soon after high school, had three kids and then started college at about age 30).

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?
I've seen a few at events like concerts and we saw my H's fav former Steelers Coach Cower at the Princeton graduation but the only celebrity I can think of actually meeting is Aaron Tippin.

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.
Just a plain piece of cheese or whatever with nothing else (the nothing else is the odd thing).

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?
I do not know who NIK is. Is this a celebrity or a member here?

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?
A car that parallel parks itself.

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
- When I was quite young my parents started referring to me as "their little lawyer", so when it came time to choose I couldn't think of anything else to be!

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life?
Barack Obama (to me he's a rockstar!)

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich.
- Sage and onion stuffing - it's not a day-after-Thanksgiving sandwich without it!

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend?
- Maybe??? I have done two SI meet-ups, both excellent!

5. If you could try something new, what would you try?
- Working hard at my job!!
- Alternatively, quitting my job to do something I might enjoy better (be an event planner).

So from time to time we've done this and it was brought up in the Welcome to F&G thread over a week ago.
So let do a little anonymous sharing.

So let's start off with just a couple questions to get things going.

1. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up? The Fonz

2. Name a celebrity that you've met in your life? None sadly or maybe not

3. 100 people surveyed top 6 answers on the board, name something odd that you might put on a sandwich. cucumbers is my biggest reach. I love a good sandwich. But it won't have anything odd on it.

4. If there was a party on NIK's lawn would you be brave enough to attend? Just tell me what time and what to bring. I'm there.

5. If you could try something new, what would you try? Is not working an answer? I would love to not have to work. LOL. I love the mud run so maybe a 24 hour extreme challenge mud run. :) Thanks for the fun post.

YearsofPain, the Flaming Lips are local to my area. Wayne Coyne is a HOOT and really does things outside the norm. To his credit, he does really nice things for the area where he lives and it's turned into a real art, culture area when it was once a slum area. Houses all renovated and going for sky-high prices now because it's Wayne's 'hood.' Lots of really trendy restaurants, art shows, wonderful stuff! Wayne and his recently divorced wife Michelle were/are really into the thriving young artists and have helped a lot of them. He outraged the city once .... when he had the entrance to one of his art & recording studios designed to look like one was walking into a giant, pink v-jay when you entered.

I think Wayne may be going through a mid-life crisis as he's taken up with the governor's young daughter and her band (and gov's daughter's band sucks.)

Regardless, I share you admiration of the music of the Flaming Lips. They are unique.
