How much do union plumbers charge hourly for labor?

Too Damn Much.

I don't know what the going rate is, but when I built my house, we hired plumbers, something neither H or I are good enough at to do the a whole house, and I fired 2 in the process of building.

Good plumbers are hard to come by in my neck of the woods.

I just had a plumber out. It was a "non-specific" job and the rate was $150 for the first hour with a minimum 1 hour charge. He spend 30 minutes here and it was $150. Ouch! I don't know what the 2nd hour would have cost or if it was rounded to the quarter or 1/2 hour. He was good and will be keeping his card on file!

I just had an estimate done for a job and we were like when we saw it.

It was $90/hr and it's 14 hours work. That, of course, doesn't include materials.

I had another guy in today. Waiting on his estimate.

I was thinking that, PJ. I mean, it is a valuable service but they're not curing cancer. Who makes that much money???

I would shop around. Here in the Midwest, about 5 years ago, I paid someone $10 per MINUTE. It was for a very simple thing, he was here 40 minutes, I paid him over $400. Found out afterwards that the local news had done a story on how dishonest that particular plumbing company is. Good luck!

A few years ago here it was $80-$90/hour with an hour minimum. That rate goes up if the service is provided after-hours or if it is more than just a basic repair. I'm so thankful my husband and father-in-law have the skills and training to take care of most of what I need.
