I've had so much piling up on me lately, as you guys know.
To make my work situation clear, I have been on full contract with the Symphony this year, which ends May 27. Someone else has been chosen (almost blindly) to have the year contract next year.
I found out yesterday that my contract has been extended through the Summer Season! That means that I will be working on contract all the way until Aug 31. I asked the Personnel Manager if my contract would end on Aug 11, after the final summer concert. He said, "I could have ended it then, but you've been such a good colleague and so reliable that I went ahead and extended it through the end of August."
What a huge relief! Much of the extra money we were putting away for when I was off-contract has been spent on medical bills (with my tonsillectomy in January, and tons of med changes & juggling for both DS4 and me).
I am beyond grateful, to God, to the PM, and to you all for being so supportive while I've been mired in such a distressing situation.
The Symphony doesn't come back to work until the last week of June - because of the contract extension, that will become PAID VACATION for me! - as will the last 2 weeks of August.
That also means 3 more months of benefits (particularly the parking pass - parking downtown is pricey! - the $330 per month that they GIVE me for not taking their health insurance, and 3 more months of FLEX Dependent Care - and 401K contributions).
Best of all, I will be PLAYING all summer!
