Find My Iphone Question

My WH's Iphone is his work phone, so it is not on our account. Can I still use the Find my phone app to locate his phone or does he have to be on my account?

If so, how do I set it up?

All you should need is an I-Tunes account.

Once you have that, log the number in Find My I-Phone, and your done.

Oh, and the phone must have the GPS enabled.

Thanks for the information. Once I enter his cell number in my Itunes account do you know if he gets a message or something stating that I am tracking him?

Hi Cheatedon23

I have been using this for over a year. As far as I know he has no idea.

Just be careful that you don't accidentally press "sound alert" as then he WILL know.

Also ensure you close "Find my iphone" after you use it. I closed my case a couple of times with the app open. FWH came home and told me that an alert had sounded on his phone from "Find my iphone". The case is leather and a little pressure in the wrong place probably set this off. Silly me.

I told him it must have been some kind of apple test. He bought it. So I can gaslight too and it helps that he is technologically illiterate

If you are careful it is a great way to track him.

Good luck.

Laura

Does anyone know for sure that the spouse wont get a notification that his number has been added to someone's iTunes to track them? If so, then that would be great but if there is any indication, he would notice. He misses very little.

I still don't know what's going on.

Thanks Hitbyatruck. I did it and it worked. One question, when you first enter the info and it comes up, does it ever show you the place the phone was, before it finds it and gives it's current location or is it a random location? I saw two locations, the first one a remote parking area and then it found him at his office.

I still don't know what's going on.

after I used the iCloud thing to find his phone, he changed his password, so i am guessing it sends some kind of alert.

there might be some setting that sends an alert. I used the "find my phone" as H and I were in the same living room in order to hear if his phone did anything, never happened.

When I login I only see the current location, no past locations. The current "dot" moves if H does.

I had already set up the app with my info in it. Will it accept another number or is that not an option anymore?

HBAT,

I can scroll through his email, but he likely would have deleted something like that. I do look, but didn't notice anything. Maybe he has it set up to sound. I don't know. I hope it was just coincidence? Do you need the Apple ID password to download a book? I need to find an excuse to get his new password.

You need the apple ID and password to download a song on iTunes or an app at the App Store that isn't free.

My husband and son have their phones icloud set to auto download for apps and music. We all have the same Apple ID. So if my husband buys an app or song, it automatically downloads on my son's phone.

I have not done tracking with find my iphone, but my son has lost his ipod touch a few times. When you click the find my iphone button and it makes sounds you generally have to click a button to turn off the sound.

When you have done that though it sends an email that states that a sound was played on the device or that it was located. So if you use the actual button to play the sound (again I'm not sure on just tracking) make sure to catch that email too.
