I get to tell my DS that I, in fact, am older than the internet.
It will most likely blow his mind in 5 years when he turns 16 and starts driving.
It disturbs me, on a very deep level, how much technology has aided people in being...shitty. I lurk more than I post, always, and my life is far from perfect - but damn. The smart phones (I crush candy all day, I understand the fascination)and facebook - apps that hide what you are doing, websites that encourage you to be a cheating asshole... ugh.
WTH kind of crap is MY ds going to have to deal with when he is in his first 'real' relationship as an adult? How is technology going to make it so much easier for his heart to be broken?
And then, I remember. This has all been happening, for, pretty much, ever. And it's only because of the technology that I even have SI, which is what has made me so much more aware of the destruction that takes place in so many lives.
It's heartbreaking. And crazymaking. If the internet just disappeared one day...(I read too many dystopian books, haha)....would it be any better? If we could really get back to the basics...would it be any better? Would people care more, and think about anyone besides themselves...more?
Or is it just hopeless? That no matter the state of the world, the same shit just keeps happening???!!!
