I checked out the Best Buy site and was wondering what was the best VAR to buy for the money. Not looking to spend that much but I don't want to waste my money either. I plan on using it in my pocket or purse, not planting it. Any advice appreciated.
At one time he was a man standing on marbles. Now I am a woman standing on marble.....

I used a sony - it was cheap. I did hide it for periods so battery life was important. Also I didn't want to leave it lying around being recharged. So I picked one that took disposable batteries.
Mine has an external mic plug, so when it was deep in my bag I could clip the sound input close to the top and it wasn't obvious.
Depends what you plan to do with the sound files. Do you want to download them on to a computer and store them? If so, find one that connects directly into the usb it is much simpler.
I think most are 'much of a muchness' but some are definitely easier to use than others. My sony is very easy.
